Overview

The original main entrance to the station is via a steep ramp from Broomknoll Street into the ticket office. There is stairs and ramp access to the origianal island platforms 1 - 2 via the car park. There is also stairs and ramp access to the new platform 3 from the pavement of the A89. See the Environs page for more details.

The bridge, about in the middle of the station provides stairs and lift access between platforms.

Platform 1 is a terminus for services to Balloch and Milngavie, whilst platform 2 is also a through platform for westbound services towards Glasgow and Helensburgh Central.

The new platform (3) serves eastbound trains towards Edinburgh.

There is tactile paving along the edge of each platform.

From the East Entrance off the A89

If you want to go to platforms 1 - 2, we suggest you use the middle entrance for stairs access or the west entrance for the lifts.

There are two approaches into this entrance, one from Broomknoll Street, just beside the roundabout and the other from the A89, just to your left as you face away from the crossing.

If you take the path from Broomknoll Street, you can continue forward, up the ramp which brings you about in the middle of the platform. Otherwise, you can turn left for the steps, which bring you near the front of longer trains.

If you take the path from the A89, you can continue forwards, up the steps or take the turning right for the ramp.

Via the Steps

You go up four steps, turn right then go up two flights of nine steps, turn left and go up five steps, onto platform 3. The six car stop sign is a few metres to your left, so you're near the front of longer trains. We found no three car stop, or other sign indicating the position of shorter trains, during our survey.

GO TO END

Via the Ramp

Continue to the top of the slope then turn left, onto platform 3. The steps from the middle entrance are to your right, followed by the steps to the bridge. We believe you're about in the middle of longer trains.

GO TO END

From the Middle Entrance off the A89

You go up two flights of steps onto platform 3, the steps to the bridge are to your right, we believe you're about in the middle of longer trains.

For platforms 1 - 2, turn right then go up six then three times eight steps, onto the bridge. Turn left, take the turning left then go down three times eight then six steps onto the island platform. Platform 1 is to your right, whilst platform 2 is to your left. We believe you're about in the middle of the train. Note, there's an electrical stanchion in the middle of this gap between the foot of the steps and the building in front of you.

GO TO END

From the West Entrance off the A89

Go up to the top of the ramp. From here, you can turn right onto platform 3, we believe you're beside the rear half of longer trains.

For platforms 1 - 2, the lift door is in front of you, with the call button to your right of the door.

Go up to bridge level, leave via the other door, move forward a couple of metres then turn right and take the turning right. The lift door is in front of you, with the call button to your right of the door.

Go down to platform level then leave via the other door. Platform 1 is to your left, whilst platform 2 is to your right, we believe you're beside the front half of the train.
