This is now a through station on the North Clyde Line between Edinburgh Waverley and Helensburgh Central. It is also the eastern terminus for services from Balloch and, during peak periods, Milngavie.
Platform 1 normally serves trains to/from Balloch and Milngavie, whilst platforms 2 and 3 are through platforms.
The tracks run approximately east/west through the station serving three platforms numbered 1 to 3 from the south. Platforms 1 – 2 are the original island platform. Platform 1 is a bay, whilst we believe platform 2 is normally a through platform serving westbound trains.
Platform 3 is a new platform along the north side of the station, serving eastbound trains towards Edinburgh.
The ticket office and kiosk are near the east end of the island platform. A new bridge, with stairs and lift access, between platform 3 and the island platform is about in the middle of the station.
A very steep ramp leads down east of the ticket office, to Broomknoll Street, whilst much gentler ramps lead from street level onto platform 3 and from the car park onto platforms 1 - 2.
There are ramped and stepped entrances/exits between each platform and street level. There is lift and stairs access between platforms via the bridge. We therefore believe the station is accessible to Guide Dog and wheelchair users.
