FIND THE EXIT FROM A PLATFORM |
DESCRIBE ONLINE |
The doors will open on your right as you face the front of the train. You'll get out onto an island platform with no tactile paving along either edge.
We believe the downward escalator to the intermediate level is beside the rear half of eastbound, or front half of westbound trains. Alternatively, there are stairs to the intermediate level near each end of the platform. If you want to use the stairs, those near the front of eastbound, or rear of westbound trains may be easier, as you could avoid crowds in the intermediate level of this station.
As you move from the front of westbound, or rear of eastbound trains, you pass the stairwell near the west end of the platform and some seating before you reach the down escalator. This escalator goes down towards the rear of westbound, or front of eastbound trains. Go down to the intermediate level, turn right then left. Continue to the wall in front of you then turn right and continue towards the escalator to the street level. You'll go through a doorway before you reach the foot of the normally upward escalator.
As you move beyond the front of eastbound, or behind the rear of westbound trains, you should find the stairwell of the east steps. These steps go down towards the front of westbound, or rear of eastbound trains.
Note that there's a large box-like structure in the middle of the platform which may seem like a stairwell, but is not.
Having found the stairs, go down two flights of steps to the intermediate level, then follow the passage left then right into the area at the foot of the escalators. Turn immediately left here, the normally upward escalator is in front of you.
Go up to street level, continue to the wall in front of you to avoid the barrier to your right and possible crowds coming into the station. turn right and continue through the ticket office, to the low wall in front of you.
From here, you can turn right towards Argyle Street or left, up four steps, towards the rear of the St Enoch Centre.
You could also turn right, follow this wall to the end then turn left (180 degrees), up the ramp towards the rear of the St Enoch Centre.
