Find the Exit from a Platform

Describe Online

Overview

The doors will open on your right as you face the front of the train. You'll get out onto an island platform with no tactile paving along either edge.

We believe the downward escalator to the intermediate level is beside the rear half of eastbound, or front half of westbound trains. Alternatively, there are stairs to the intermediate level near the front of westbound, or rear of eastbound trains.

To the Intermediate Level

Via the Escalator

As you move from the front of westbound, or rear of eastbound trains, you pass the stairwell near the west end of the platform and some seating before you reach the down escalator. This escalator goes down towards the rear of westbound, or front of eastbound trains. Go down to the intermediate level, turn right then left. The gate line is in front of you, with the Wide Aisle gate at the left-hand end of the gate line and the regular exit gate to your right of this. Go through the gates, continue to the wall in front of you then turn right and continue towards the escalator to the street level. You'll go through a doorway before you reach the foot of the normally upward escalator.

Via the Stairs

The stairs are beside the front of westbound, or rear of eastbound trains. You go down towards the rear of westbound, or front of eastbound trains. Go down two flights of steps then follow the passage which veers right then left again, towards the gate line, in front of you. There's a Wide Aisle gate at the left-hand end of the gate line, with the regular exit gate to your right of this. Go through the gates, continue to the wall in front of you then turn right and continue towards the escalator to the street level. You'll go through a doorway before you reach the foot of the normally upward escalator.

To Street Level

Go up to street level, continue to the wall in front of you to avoid the barrier to your right and possible crowds coming into the station. turn right and continue through the ticket office, to the low wall in front of you.

From here, you can turn right towards Argyle Street or left, up four steps, towards the rear of the St Enoch Centre.

You could also turn right, follow this wall to the end then turn left (180 degrees), up the ramp towards the rear of the St Enoch Centre.
