This is a through station on the low level line through Glasgow Central Station.
The station is established on three levels:
The station entrance leads east from the alley between Argyle Street and the rear forecourt of the St Enoch Centre. Beyond (east of) the ticket office is the area at the top of the escalators to the intermediate level.
This includes the area at the foot of the escalators from the street level, plus the main area lying north of this.
The main area gives access to the escalators to/from the platforms (on the north side) and the steps towards the west end, via a passage leading west. There is also an emergency stairs exit leading from the southwest side of this space.
This space is now divided into two by the gate line. We understand that the east steps to/from the platforms are no longer in use.
A single island platform runs east/west with platform 1, westbound for services to Dalmuir, Helensburgh and Milngavie, lying south of platform 2, eastbound towards Lanark and Motherwell.
There is escalator access throughout this station and regular stairs access between the intermediate and platform levels. Stairs access between the intermediate and street levels is via the emergency exit only.
We therefore believe this station is inaccessible to wheelchair users and only accessible to Guide Dogs if one of the escalators can be stopped.
Note that Glasgow Central Station has lift access throughout, whilst Partick has lift access between the ticket hall and mainline platforms.
