There is stairs access between platforms via the bridge. The step-free routes between platforms are via Grampian and Dalfaber roads, details of which lie beyond the scope of this survey, though we understand you simply drive to the next road crossing the tracks and turn back along the other side. See the Find a Platform from an Entrance page for more details.
These directions are therefore limited to stairs routes via the bridge.
Platform 1 is sometimes used bi-directionally. We understand platform 2 is only used for southbound services.
As you face the front of the train, the doors will open as follows:
There is no tactile paving along any platform in this station. Note also that only the middle part of platform 2 has a concrete surface, that towards the two ends being gravel, with a narrow strip of concrete at the edge.
From Platform 1|
From Platforms 2 - 3
As you go from the front of longer, northbound trains, you pass between a series of paired pillars supporting the canopy before you go round the wall with windows which juts out, just before the main, covered part of the platform. Continue, round the wall jutting out at the end of the covered area, then continue forward to the steps.
As you go from the front of longer southbound trains, you pass a gravel area to your left, which includes a series of posts, plus the pillars for the bridge. The foot of the steps is just beyond the end of the gravel, turn left (180 degrees) here for the steps.
You go up a flight of steps, turn left then go up six steps. Continue, down six steps then turn left and go down a flight of steps to platform level. Platform 2 is to your left, we believe you're beside the front half of southbound trains. Platform 3, for the Spey Valley Steam Railway, is to your right, turn right then left and continue to the ticket office, on your left.
GO TO END
As you go from the front of the train, you're on a gravel surface, continue to the start of the concrete then turn back for the steps to the bridge.
As you go from the rear of the train, you pass a wooden fence, which is interrupted by the walls of buildings on platform 3. Continue past the gap to platform 3, on your left, to the foot of the steps in front of you. If you find yourself on gravel, you've overshot the turning and steps.
We understand the exit is beyond the front of the train, take the turning right then left for the steps to the bridge.
You go up a flight of steps, turn right then go up six steps. Continue, down six steps, turn right then go down a flight of steps and turn right onto platform 1. We believe you're near the rear of northbound trains and beside the front half of southbound ones.
