Location

The station is on the northwest side of a lay-by from the northwest side of Carlibar Road (northeast/southwest), a few metres northeast of Arthurlie Street (northwest/southeast) which is the main road.

Arthurlie Street, continues (northwest) under the tracks, to the junction with Graham Street (southeast), beyond which Paisley Road continues northwest.

The lay-by off Carlibar Road is used as a small car park with eight parking spaces, of which two are for disabled people. Unfortunately, at the time of our survey, the marking of these spaces had disappeared, leading to poor parking practice in this space. The original taxi rank is no longer in use, people are now expected to phone for taxis.

There's a small, paved forecourt between the station building and the car park. This forecourt contained little more than a large post, towards the southwest end, at the time of our survey.

Entrances and Exits

There are four entrances/exits to this station:

The Southwest Entrance

From the forecourt, you go up a very short, steep slope, then through a push door into the ticket office. This door will soon be removed so that a toilet can be installed. A new entrance door will lead northwest into the ticket office from the southeast side of the building.

The Northeast Entrance

From the forecourt, you go up a ramp, with a rail to each side, going southwest, then through automatic doors into the ticket office.

The Northwest Entrance

Just northwest of the rail bridge, you leave Arthurlie Street, going northeast then go through the push door on your right, then up a slight slope as you go into the ticket office.

The Ramp and Steps to the Island Platform 2 - 3

Just northwest of the rail bridge, you leave Arthurlie Street, going northeast, past the door to the ticket office on your right. From here, you can turn left for the ramp, or bypass the first section of the ramp by continuing forward up the steps.

Via the Ramp

There's a hand rail to each side.

Turn left (northwest), continue to the top of the slope then turn right (180 degrees, southeast) and continue to the top of this slope and turn left (northeast). The top of the steps is now behind you.

Via the Steps

You go up four, five then four steps, going northeast, to join the ramp, which continues up in front of you.

You now follow the ramp up (northeast), turn right (southeast), then left (northeast) then right (southeast). Continue to the top of the slope. The end of track 3 is now to your left before you reach the platform. Turn left for the island platform 2 - 3 or right for the waiting room and the southwest section of platform 2.

Local Road Crossings

We'll describe four crossings in this section, none of which had either sounder or rotating cones at the time of our survey, though we were given to believe that rotating cones would be introduced shortly. We understand that traffic lights are synchronised around the two T-junctions - Arthrulie Street/ Carlibar Road and Arthurlie Street/Graham Street/Paisley Road. These seemed to be on a very slow cycle at the time of our survey.

The Junction of Arthurlie Street (Northwest/Southeast) and Carlibar Road (Northeast)

There is no crossing at the northwest arm of this junction.

Northeast Arm, Carlibar Road

This is a single-stage crossing with tactile paving and central island, the post with push button, but no rotating cone is at the kerb, to your right as you cross in either direction.

Southeast Arm, Arthurlie Street

The crossing is a few metres southeast of Carlibar Road, there's a gap in the railings. This is a single-stage crossing with tactile paving. The post, with push button but no rotating cone is agains the wall, to your right as you face across Arthurlie Street in either direction.

The Junction of Arthurlie Street (Southeast), Graham Street (Southwest) and Paisley Road (Northwest)

There is no crossing of the southeast arm of this junction.

Southwest Arm, Graham Street)

This is a single-stage crossing with tactile paving. The post, with push button but no rotating cone is against the wall, to your right as you face across Graham Street in either direction.

Northwest Arm, Paisley Road

There is a gap in the railings. This is a single-stage crossing with tactile paving. The post, with push button but no rotating cone, is at the kerb, to your right as you cross in either direction.
