Platform 1, Southbound

Describe Online

Overview

This is a separate platform along the southeast side of the station. We understand this usually serves southbound trains towards Carlisle, though we found 2 and 4 car stops towards each end of the platform which suggest it could be used bi-directionally.

There is tactile paving along the edge of the platform.

To Reach

This platform can be reached via lift or stairs from the ticket office.

From the ticket office, you go through normally open gates leading southwest into the middle passage.

Via the Stairs

You go up eight steps, going southeast. Turn left (180 degrees, northwest), go up eight steps, going Northwest. Turn left (180 degrees (southeast), go up eight steps, going southeast. Turn left (180 degrees, northwest) then go up nine steps, going northwest, to platform level and continue (northwest) through automatic doors onto the platform.

Via the Lift

The call button is to your left of the door. Go up to platform level, leave via the same door, continue to the wall, with windows, in front of you, turn right then go through the automatic doors on your left, onto the platform.
