Find an exit from a Platform

Describe Online

Overview

There is level access from platform 1, eastbound towards Edinburgh, directly to the forecourt or via the ticket office. There is lift and stairs access from platform 2, westbound towards Glasgow and Helensburgh, via the bridge.

See the Environs page for details of the forecourt.

The doors will open on your left as you face the front of the train. There is tactile paving along the edge of each platform.

From Which Platform?

  From Platform 1, Eastbound
From Platform 2, Westbound

From Platform 1, Eastbound

As you go from the front of the train, you pass the shelter before the ticket office building, at the time of our survey, there was a tactile mat outside the automatic doors into the ticket office. The railings resume beyond this building to the gap to the forecourt.

As you go from the rear of longer trains, you pass the steps to the bridge before the lift building, then the gap to the forecourt, the ticket office building is beyond this.

Via the Ticket Office

As you go in from the platform, the automatic doors to the forecourt are in front of you, otherwise turn right for the sales windows.

As you leave the ticket office, move to the far side of the pavement to avoid the pillars which lean out from the building. You can turn left and take the turning right for the crossing onto the pavement towards Edinburgh Road, or turn right and take the first turning left to cross to the taxi rank. The second crossing, to your left, leads to the stance for the replacement bus service.

GO TO END

Directly to the Forecourt

Continue, past the lift door on your left, onto the pavement. From here, you can turn left then take the turning right to cross to the pavement towards Edinburgh Road. Alternatively, turn right then follow the left-hand side of the pavement. The first turning left is the crossing to the taxi rank, whilst the second leads to the stance for the replacement bus service.

GO TO END

From Platform 2, Westbound

We understand the front of shorter trains is beside the steps to the bridge.

From the front of longer trains, you pass the shelter, then the steps to the bridge (right (180 degrees), before you reach the lift building. The door is on the far side of this building.

From the rear of longer trains, you pass the shelter before you reach the door to the lift, in front of you, the steps to the bridge are beyond this.

Via the Steps

Go up two flights of eight steps, turn left (180 degrees) then go up two more flights of eight steps onto the bridge. Turn left, continue to the end then take the turning left. Go down two flights of eight steps, turn left (180 degrees( then go down two more flights of eight steps onto platform 1. From here, you can continue beyond the lift and either turn left for the forecourt, or continue to the ticket office.
