Location

The station is bounded to the north by Cannon Street (east/west), to the west by Dowgate Hill (north/south) and to the east by Bush Lane (south). The Underground station is below the west section of the station, adjacent to Dowgate Hill.

Entrances and Exits

There are five entrances/exits:

• Three entrances/exits onto the south side of Cannon Street, which we'll call the west, middle and east entrances.
• An entrance/exit onto Dowgate Hill, open between 07:00 - 10:00 Monday to Friday.
• An entrance/exit from the Underground station, which was blocked at the time of our survey.

The West Entrance

This is the nearest to the Cannon Street exit of the Underground Station. You go up nine steps, going south, into the lower concourse.

The Middle Entrance

This offers step-free access to the platforms via the lift. There's level access between this entrance and the lower concourse.

The East Entrance

You go up six then seven steps, going south. There's tactile paving at the top and bottom of these steps. From the top, continue south along a passage with a London Connections map on the left-hand (east) side and a blank door in the end. Turn right (west) into the concourse, you're in the northeast corner, facing west.

The Dowgate Hill Entrance

This is reached via steps from the east side of Dowgate Hill. Details of this were not available to us at the time of our survey.

From the Underground Station

This leaves the Underground concourse near the southwest corner and emerges in the southwest corner of the lower concourse. This was blocked at the time of our survey, so the details are unknown to us at this time.

Local Road Crossings

Cannon Street

The tactile paving outside the Cannon Street exit of the Underground station leads to the crossing of Cannon Street. This is a single-stage crossing with tactile paving and sounder. The post, with push button and rotating cone, is to your right as you cross in either direction.

Dowgate Hill

There's no pedestrian controlled crossing, though this seemed to be a relatively quiet road at the time of our survey.

Bush Lane

There's no pedestrian controlled crossing, though this seemed to be a quiet side street at the time of our survey.

Local Buses

North Side of Cannon Street

Bus Stop MB, just west of the crossing, towards Aldgate or London Bridge, serving 15, 17 521 (Monday to Friday), N15 and N47.

South Side of Cannon Street

Bus Stop MA, beyond Bush Lane, serving buses towards Aldwich or Holborn, 15, 17 521 (Monday to Friday), N15 and N47.

The taxi rank is opposite the station building, though this seemed quite ill-defined at the time of our survey.
