The Area Adjacent to Platform 4

Beyond the automatic dorr is an open space stretching about 30 metres south to platform 4 which runs east/west. A series of rails defines the concourse limit with a gap onto platform 4 opposite the entrance.

At the west end of the railings is a post indicating the orange zone which maarks the start of the island platform 4 - 7 and the western limit of the concourse.

West Side

  route to platforms 4, 7 and 8

As you move north, past the ends of tracks 7 and 8, the floor texture changes, you go down a slight slope opposite the east end of platform 8, the station building is in front of you.

Towards the west end of the concourse is a seating area surrounded by metal railings. This area contains seats and flowers etc., outside cafes, though we couldn't identify how to access these businesses at the time of our survey.

Having come through the main entrance facing south you have the route to platform 6 leading left and the steps to the bridge on your left, about 10 o'clock. On your right, at about 2 o'clock from the doors is a triangular structure with an audible ticking clock, departure screens and the tannoy system. Information boards and planters are to the south of this, between it and platform 4. Turning right from the doors you enter a seating area with a metal fence to the south and west, with seats and planters. On the north side of this space, going west:
