CHANGE PLATFORMS

Overview

In this section, we consider the stairs and ramp routes via the bridge. The stairs are towards the east end of the platforms (front of eastbound or rear of westbound trains), whilst the ramps are about in the middle of the platforms.

The doors will open on your left as you face the front of the train. There's tactile paving along the edge of each platform.

Which Route?

From Platform 1 to Platform 2 Via the Stairs
From Platform 1 to Platform 2 Via the Ramp
From Platform 2 to Platform 1 Via the Stairs
From Platform 2 to Platform 1 Via the Ramp

From Platform 1 to Platform 2 Via the Stairs

Go beyond the front of the train and continue to the steps in front of you. Go up three flights of steps onto the bridge then turn right. Continue, down the slope, which becomes quite steep, then take the turning right. Go down a flight of steps then continue to the tactile paving, a few metres beyond the foot of the steps, before moving to your right onto the platform. You're behind the rear of the train.

GO TO END

From Platform 1 to Platform 2 Via the Ramp

The rail from the foot of the ramp juts out into the platform then continues a couple of metres towards the rear of the train. From the front of the train, go round the end of this rail then turn away from the tracks. From the rear of the train, follow the fence then turn left into the gap just before the rail.

From here, you can either turn right up a gentler ramp, or continue, up two steps and a steeper ramp, to the path.

Following the Ramp

Turn right, then follow the path left then right and left again to the path towards the bridge, then turn right.

Following the Steeper Route

Go up two steps and continue to the top of the slope then take the turning right. This is the path leading to the bridge.

Continue, following the left-hand side to the left turning. turn right and continue, down the slope which becomes quite steep, to the main road. Continue along the pavement and take the first turning right, into the car park. The station is to your right with the raised area outside the ticket office and waiting room about in the middle. The foot of the ramp lies just beyond this. Go up the ramp, turn right (180 degrees) then continue to the top of the slope before turning left onto the platform. We believe you're about in the middle of the train. As you reach the platform, the waiting room and ticket office are to your right.

GO TO END

From Platform 2 to Platform 1 Via the Stairs

Continue beyond the rear of the train, taking the gap to your right, near the end of the platform. If you find a stone wall to your right or railings and distinct tactile flooring in front of you, you've overshot. Take the turning right then turn left and, after a few metres, go up a flight of steps onto the bridge.

Turn left, continue up the slope then take the first turning left. You go down three flights of steps to platform level. The waiting room is in front of you, move to your left of this onto the platform. You're near the front of the train.

GO TO END

From Platform 2 to Platform 1 Via the Ramp

Get off the train and cross the platform. If you find the building (ticket office or waiting room), or metal railings in front of you turn right. Note that there's a gap to the steps between the waiting room and the metal railings. Locate the gap to the ramp on your left and turn left into this.

If you find wire mesh or wooden fencing in front of you, turn left, continue past the first set of seats then turn right into the gap towards the ramp.

Turn right, continue to the bottom of the slope then turn left (180 degrees) and continue to the bottom of the slope, into the car park. You now need to find the exit from the car park, which will be in front of you, slightly to your right.

On reaching the main road, turn left and follow the left-hand side of the pavement, towards the station. This includes quite a steep slope up, which gradually levels out as you approach the second then third turning on your left, which is the one you need.

Turn left here, there are two routes, the first involves a gentle ramp down to the platform, whilst the second is a more direct but steeper ramp plus two steps down to platform level.

The Gentler Route

Follow the path and take the first turning left. Follow the path to your right (west) then left (180 degrees, east), then right (nearly 180 degrees, southwest), then left (south) onto the platform. there are metal rails to each side of this ramp. The left-hand rail continues before turning right along the middle of the platform, move to your right to go round the end of this rail. We believe you're beside the rear half of the train.

GO TO END

The Steeper Route

Follow the path (west) to the T-junction. The right-hand path leads to housing, whilst the left is a quicker route to the platform. Take the left turn (south), down a steep slope with a low wall to each side, then two steps down to platform level. The foot of the other ramp is to your left. The left-hand rail from the ramp continues before turning right along the middle of the platform, move to your right to go round the end of this rail. We believe you're beside the rear half of the train.
