This is a through station on the North Clyde Line, between Helensburgh Central, Glasgow Queen Street, Springburn and Airdrie. Note that from December 2010, trains will continue beyond Airdrie to Edinburgh Waverley.
It is also a through station on the West Highland Line from Glasgow Queen Street to Fort William, Mallaig and Oban.
The tracks run approximately east/west between two island platforms, with platform 1, serving eastbound trains to Glasgow Queen Street, lying north of platforms 2 - 3, serving westbound trains towards Helensburgh, Fort William, Mallaig and Oban.
There is steep, ramp access to a subway, towards the west end of each platform which provides step-free access to street level on the south and stairs access down to the north.
The ticket office, toilet and phone are on platform 1. Note that the other section of this island platform is unused and lies beside a vacant track bed.
Although there is step-free access throughout this station, some users may find the ramps to/from the subway a bit steep. We therefore believe the station is accessible to Guide Dog users, but may not be accessible to wheelchairs.
