This is a through station on the main line to the north from Edinburgh or Glasgow Queen Street. It is also a terminus for some services from Edinburgh or Glasgow.
The tracks run approximately northeast/southwest, serving three platforms, numbered from the southeast:
Platforms 2 - 3 are an island platform which can only be reached via the bridges.
There are two bridges, which we'll call the east and west bridges. The east bridge is the original bridge within the listed station, providing stairs access between platform 1, outside the station building and platforms 2 - 3.
The west bridge provides lift and stairs access from outside the station at platform 1, to platforms 2 - 3 and a large supermarket car park lying northwest of the station.
There is step-free access to platform 1, southbound via the main entrance and ticket office. There is lift and stairs access to platforms 2 - 3 via the west bridge.
We therefore believe the station is accessible to Guide Dog and wheelchair users.
