GO TO END

As you enter the station from the Broadway, you go down a flight of steps into the concourse. The ticket sales windows are behind a Tensa queuing system to your left and the gate line is in front of you. The manual gate is at the left-hand end of the gate line and the automatic entrances are, in general towards that end of the gate line.

Go through the gates onto the central bridge

To Platforms 5 and 6, Central Line
To Platforms 7 and 8, District Line
To Platform 9, district Line

To Platform 1, Mainline

This platform isn't normally visited by trains stopping at this station. Mainline trains often pass through at high speed.

Turn right and continue, up the eight steps onto the south bridge. Continue to the wall at the end then turn left. Go down two flights of steps onto the platform. You'd be at the front of the train.

We recommend you don't go beyond the second shelter on this platform as we found a post with a head-high metal sign protruding into the platform. The platform narrows progressively beyond the end of the wall.

To Platform 2 and 3, Mainline

Turn right and continue up the eight steps onto the south bridge. Take the first turning left and go down a flight of steps onto a landing. Turn right (180 degrees) and go down a second flight of steps onto a landing. Turn right again (180 degrees) and go down a third flight of steps to platform level.

You're on platform 3, at the front of the train. Platform 2, normally not visited by trains stopping at this station, is to your right. Mainline trains normally pass through at high speed. You'd be near the rear of the train.

To Platform 4, Mainline

Move to the top of the main steps, in front of you and take the right-hand set. A wooden rail extends to your right beyond the top of these steps. Go down two flights of steps to platform level then move to your right onto platform 4. You're at the rear of the train.

To Platforms 5 and 6, Central Line

Move to the top of the main steps, in front of you, then take the second set from your left, which we believe is the preferred side. Go down two flights of steps to platform level and continue forward. You'll pass between brick pillars, supporting metal gates before you reach the island platform. Platform 5 is then to your right, platform 6 to your left. A metal rail runs along the edge of each platform to the rear of the departing train.
