Overview

The normal platform usage in this station is as follows:

• Platform 0, seldom used, we understand it serves about three trains per day during peak times;
• Platform 1 serves trains to Edinburgh Waverley, Brunstane and Newcraighall;
• Platform 2 serves the Fife Circle, plus trains to Aberdeen and Inverness via Kirkcaldy;
• Platform 3 serves Edinburgh Waverley and stations to North Berwick;
• Platform 4 serves trains to Bathgate, Dunblane, Inverness via Stirling plus Glasgow Central and Queen Street.

There is stairs-only access to/from each platform.

There is tactile paving along the edge of platforms 0 - 1, but not on the other platforms.

At the time of our survey, the rear of the westbound trains (front of eastbound) was beside the foot of the steps from the bridge, so we suggest you needn't attempt to go behind the steps. If you do get off beyond the steps, note that you can walk underneath them, be careful.

Except for platform 0, the doors will open on your left as you face the front of the train.

From the Platforms

From Platforms 0 - 1

From platform 0, go beyond the front of the train then move right, around the wall in front of you, onto platform 1.

From platform 1, continue to the front of the train, up two flights of steps onto the bridge then turn right. Take the first turning right for platforms 2 - 3, or continue to the end then turn right for platform 4. Go down two flights of steps to platform level.

If you went to platforms 2 - 3, platform 2 is to your right, we believe you're beside the rear of the train, platform 3 is to your left, you're near the front.

If you went to platform 4, the train will be on your right, you're near the rear of the train.

From Platforms 2 - 3

From platform 2, continue to the rear of the train, otherwise, from platform 3, continue to the front. Go up two flights of steps onto the bridge.

Turn left then take the turning left for platforms 0 - 1, or turn right and take the turning right for platform 4. Go down two flights of steps to platform level.

If you go down to platforms 0 - 1, platform 1 is to your left, you're near the front of the train. Continue forward, past the building in the middle of the island platform before reaching platform 0 on your right.

If you went to platform 4, the train will be on your right, you're near the rear of the train.

From Platform 4

Continue to the rear of the train then go up two flights of steps onto the bridge and turn left. Take the first turning left for platforms 2 - 3, or the second for platforms 0 - 1.

If you go down to platforms 0 - 1, platform 1 is to your left, you're near the front of the train. Continue forward, past the building in the middle of the island platform before reaching platform 0 on your right.

If you went to platforms 2 - 3, platform 2 is to your right, we believe you're beside the rear of the train, platform 3 is to your left, you're near the front.
