Find an exit from a Platform
There are two island platforms which are joined by the upper concourse, leading to the main exit, beyond the front of the arriving train and by a subway, leading to the tower exit, towards the rear. Platforms 1 - 2 lie to your left of platforms 3 - 4, as you face the front of the arriving train.
The doors will open on your right if you arrive at platforms 1 or 3, otherwise on your left as you face the front of the train.
There is no tactile paving along the edge of these platforms.
There is escalator, lift and stairs access to the main exit into Fenchurch Place, turn right and continue a few metres for the taxi rank. There is stairs-only access via the tower exit, towards Tower Hill Station.
To the Main Exit|
To the Tower Exit
Go beyond the front of the train. The gate line is in front of you with the manual gate at the left-hand end. Of the 16 automatic gates, we found no clear pattern for entrances or exits at the time of our survey.
Go through the gates. As you face away from the platforms, the escalators and main stairs are in front of you, with the other stairs and lift towards the far end of the right-hand side. Note that you can walk to either side of the stairwell.
Continue to the top of the main stairs and escalators in front of you. The stairs are to your right of the escalators and the left-hand escalator is normally the one you need. Go down to the lower concourse and continue through the exit.
GO TO END
It may be easier to find the main stairs. Continue to the top of the stairs and escalators in front of you. The stairs are to your right of the escalators. Go down three flights of steps into the lower concourse and continue through the exit.
GO TO END
Follow the right-hand side of the concourse, beyond the stairs, to the lift, which is towards the end of the concourse. Go down to the lower concourse, leave via the same doors, move forward a few metres before turning right and going through the exit.
GO TO END
Go towards, or beyond, the rear of the train and locate the steps down to the subway. On each platform, there's a set of stairs going down beyond the rear of the train and another, going down towards the front.
If you've gone towards the front of the train, turn right (otherwise left) and continue down a flight of steps. Turn left (180 degrees) then go down a flight of steps into the tower concourse.
The gate line is in front of you with a manual gate at the right-hand of the gate line and the automatic exits at the left. Go through the gates and continue, down three steps, to street level.
Follow the route to Tower Hill Station.
