Find a platform from an entrance
Between March and October, the station becomes very crowded at about 16:00 with people leaving the steam train from Mallaig.
Most daytime trains will leave from platform 1, which is to your left as you leave the ticket office, whilst the sleeper service will normally leave from platform 2.
We understand that these arrangements are subject to change, particularly if the steam train from Mallaig is delayed.
There is no tactile paving along the edge of either platform.
From the Main Entrance|
From the West Entrance
Note that, at the time of our survey, there was a very steep dropped kerb outside this entrance.
If you arrive via the subway from the High Street, turn right at the top of the ramp and follow the building on your left till you reach the entrance doors.
Go through a set of automatic doors and continue, past the cafe to your right, then through another set of automatic doors into the ticket office.
We suggest you turn right here, to avoid the seating in front of you, continue to the wall then turn left. You pass the ticket sales windows on your right before you reach the far (north) wall of the ticket office. You may need to move left to find the automatic doors to the platform.
Go through these doors and continue, between the bollards, onto the platform. Platform 1 is to your left, platform 2 to your right. You're behind the rear of the train.
Note, there can be more than one train at the platform, we suggest you check with staff before boarding.
GO TO END
You go through a set of automatic doors then continue, via a short passage, into the ticket office. The doors to the platforms are on your left, whilst the ticket sales windows are in front of you.
Turn left, through the doors then continue, between the bollards, onto the platforms. Platform 1 is to your left, whilst platform 2 is to your right.
Note that there can be more than one train at the platform. We suggest you check with staff before boarding.
