PLATFORMS 11 TO 14 |
DESCRIBE ONLINE |
The former platforms 12 and 13 have been renumbered 14 and 15 in preparation for the Glasgow Airport Rail Link (GARL) project. The former platform 11A has been renumbered to platform 12.
During this project, we understand that the road way will be terminated within the station so as to merely provide access to emergency vehicles. Platform 12 will be extended alongside platform 11 and a new platform 13 will be created. This will mean that platform 11 - 12 and 13 - 14 will be island platforms.
These platforms currently share an island with the road which enters from Hope Street, curves south to run between platforms 11 and 14 then descends to the Oswald Street exit.
The floor texture changes from tiles to concrete. There is no tactile paving near the edge.

The normal way to reach platform 14 is to turn right beyond the Virgin Trains customer lounge. Just before the south end of the Virgin Trains customer lounge are two benches. Turn right, cross the road over which pedestrians have priority, pass the short stay parking, then turn left. Alternatively, you can cross the road beyond the building housing the escalators to the low level. The ends of tracks 14 and 15 are about 6 metres south of those of tracks 10 and 11.
Platform 14 continues south, with short stay car parking to your left, past the well for the road as it slopes down towards the vehicle exit in Oswald Street. All other features are in common with platform 11.
There is no tactile paving near the edge of this platform.
