The station is immediately southeast of the point where Terrace Road (northeast/southwest) crosses the tracks.
Terrace Road is on a viaduct leading northeast from Regent Street (northwest/southeast) down the slope towards Cathcart Street (also northwest/southeast).
The station lies along the southwest side of a small car park which is accessed via steps or ramp from Cathcart Street. We noted five archways in the wall along the northeast side of this car park which, from the northwest, appear to serve:

As you continue southeast, along the southwest side of Cathcart Street, you pass the path towards the stepped entrance, a green area between the street and car park then take the turning right (southwest) into Station Avenue.
Continue (southwest) up a steady slope, past the landing at the foot of steps from Terrace Road, to the right (northwest). Continue, up the slope, now with a wall on the right, through the second arch from the right, to the northeast side of the ticket office building. Move left (southeast) then continue (southwest) past the ticket office on your right, onto platform 1.
From Cathcart Street, take the turning right (southwest) just before the green space. Take the turning right (northwest) then left (southwest) and go up 13 steps, onto the landing mentioned above. Continue, down one step, going southwest then follow the wall on your right. The gated arch is in front of you. Move left then continue, through the second arch towards the ticket office building. Move left (southeast) then continue (southwest) past the ticket office on your right, onto platform 1.
Go through the third (northeast) gap in the wall on the southeast side of Terrace Road. Go up one step going southeast then turn left (northeast), go down 11 steps going northeast then turn right (180 degrees, southwest). Go down 11 steps, going southwest. Turn left (southeast), go down seven steps, going southeast onto a landing. Turn right (southwest), go down a small step onto the pavement then continue following the wall on your right. The gated arch is in front of you. Move left (southeast) then continue (southwest), through the second arch, towards the ticket office building. Move left (southeast) then continue (southwest) past the ticket office on your right, onto platform 1.
Go through the middle gap in the wall on the southeast side of Terrace Road and turn left (northeast). Go down 16 steps, going northeast, turn right (180 degrees, southwest) then go down 15 steps, going southwest to platform level. There's tactile paving at the foot of these steps which have a hand rail to each side.
Turn left (southeast) from the foot of the steps then continue (southeast) past the ticket office building on your left. At the end of this building, you can turn left (northeast) to the ticket office, or right (southwest) onto platform 1.
Go through the first (southwest) gap in the wall on the southeast side of Terrace Road. Continue (southeast) through normally open gates. There’s ticket information on the right-hand (southwest) wall.
Continue down the slope, then go left then right round barriers. Turn right (southwesst), then left (southeast) down the ramp with rest stops, there’s a rail to each side. Turn left (northeast) through a gap in the wall, then right (southeast) and continue down the ramp, going southeast, onto platform 2, near the middle of the platform.
Go through the first (southwest) gap in the wall on the southeast side of Terrace Road. Continue (southeast) through normally open gates. There’s ticket information on the right-hand (southwest) wall.
Continue down the slope, then go left then right round barriers. Continue down 13 then 13 steps, going southeast onto platform 2.
We found no pedestrian crossings of either Cathcart or Regent Street during our survey.

Terrace Road continues northeast towards Greenock town centre, which lies beyond the scope of this survey.
