The PROPOSED TRAIN/BUS INTERCHANGE

Describe Online

Overview

It is proposed that a train/bus interchange, including the rail station, four bus stops, a coach stand, new taxi rank and extended car parking facilities will be developed on this site.

Outline Plan

The existing forecourt will be divided into:

A new road will be built, from Church Street, serving the new bus stops. Buses will leave the station forecourt via the east side of Station Approach. Taxis and private vehicles will enter via the west side of Station Approach and leave via the East. The coach stand will be located on the island in the middle of the taxi turning circle.

Accessibility

It is proposed that this be established as a model of good practice including step-free access to accessible vehicles and way finding systems to aid blind/vision impaired customers. At the time of writing, a comprehensive system including Talking Signs and the Bus Information Departures System (currently employed in several bus stations throughout the UK) will be installed.
