Overview

The main entrance to this station is from the forecourt which is between platforms 2, serving trains towards Ardrossan and Largs and platform 3, serving faster trains towards Glasgow Central. There is step-free access from the forecourt directly onto each of these platforms or via the ticket office.

There is step-free access from Ashgrove Road onto platform 1, serving slower trains towards Glasgow Central and from McGavin Way onto platform 4, serving trains towards Troon, Ayr and Stranraer. Note that the ramp to platform 4 may be steep for some users.

There is stairs-only access via the bridges between platforms 1 and 2 and between platforms 3 and 4.

There is no tactile paving along the edge of any platforms in this station.

As the road entrances to this station are quite close together, we'll restrict these directions to:

As you face the station building, the entrance to the ticket office is about in the middle of the wall in front of you, platform 2 is to your left and platform 3 to your right.

As you stand on the pavement, facing the station building, you can turn left and continue through the gap, onto the platform. We believe you're about in the middle of the train.

If you need a ticket, go through the automatic doors, into the ticket office, continue to the end of the passage then turn left. The sales window is on your left. As you face the window, turn right and continue to the wall, turn right then locate the door on your left. There's a push button to your right of the door as you face the platform. Go through the door onto platform 2, we believe you're beside the rear half of the train.

To Platform 1

From here, you'll need to use the northwest bridge from platform 2.

From the Forecourt

As you stand on the pavement, facing the station building, you can turn left and continue through the gap, onto platform 2 then turn left. Note that there's another gap from the forecourt, nearer the foot of the steps to the bridge, though the one nearer the building may be easier to find.

Via the Ticket Office

If you need a ticket, go through the automatic doors, into the ticket office, continue to the end of the passage then turn left. The sales window is on your left. As you face the window, turn right and continue to the wall, turn right and find the door on your left. There's a push button to your right of the door as you face the platform. Go through the door onto platform 2 then turn left.

Via the Bridge

Continue to the foot of the steps to the bridge, there's tactile paving before the foot of the steps.

Go up a flight of steps, turn right then go up another flight of steps onto the bridge. Continue, down a flight of steps then turn right and go down another flight onto platform 1. We believe you're beside the rear half of the train.

To Platform 3

As you stand on the pavement, facing the station building, you can turn right and continue through the gap, onto the platform. We believe you're about in the middle of the train.

If you need a ticket, go through the automatic doors, into the ticket office, continue to the end of the passage then turn left. The sales window is on your left. As you face the window, turn left and continue to the wall, turn left then locate the door on your right. There's a push button to your right of the door as you face the platform. Go through the door onto platform 3, we believe you're beside the front half of the train.

To Platform 4

From here, you'll need to use the southeast bridge from platform 3.

From the Forecourt

As you stand on the pavement, facing the station building, you can turn right and continue through the gap, onto platform 3 then turn right. Note that there's another gap from the forecourt, nearer the foot of the steps to the bridge, though the one nearer the building may be easier to find.

Via the Ticket Office

If you need a ticket, go through the automatic doors, into the ticket office, continue to the end of the passage then turn left. The sales window is on your left. As you face the window, turn left, continue to the wall, turn left and find the door on your right. There's a push button to your right of the door as you face the platform. Go through the door onto platform 3 then turn right.

Via the Bridge

As you continue along the platform, you'll reach the four pillars supporting the bridge, towards the right-hand side of the platform. Note that you can walk between these pillars, under the steps, be careful! Continue, beyond the steps then turn back, there's tactile paving before the foot of the steps.

Go up a flight of steps, turn right then go up another flight of steps onto the bridge. Continue, down a flight of steps then turn left and go down another flight onto platform 4. We believe you're about in the middle of the train.

From Ashgrove Road

Ashgrove Road was blocked to traffic from Townhead at the time of our survey. Details of how to reach the northwest car park lie beyond the scope of this survey. We noted a drop-off point beside the gap onto the platform, which we believe would put you about in the middle of the train.

As you walk from Townhead into Ashgrove Road, follow the right-hand side, you go down the slope then turn right at the bottom onto the platform. We believe you're near the rear of the train.

From McGavin Way

This is the only step-free route onto platform 4 and some users may find the slope a bit steep.

As you walk from Townhead/Byres Road into McGavin Way, follow the left-hand side, down the slope onto the platform. You're at the end of the platform, before the front of the train.
