Lines Served

This is a through station on the East Coast mainline between Edinburgh Waverly and Aberdeen and also on the Fife Circle.

Layout

The tracks are on a viaduct which approaches the station from the south before curving towards the northeast as they pass through the station between separate platforms. For convenience, we'll consider the tracks as running north/south through the station.

Platform 1, serving southbound trains towards Edinburgh lies east of platform 2, serving northbound trains towards Dundee and Aberdeen.

The main building is on the east side of the station, containing the ticket office, toilets, pay phone and kiosk. This building is on two levels, with the ticket office, phone and kiosk at street level and the toilets at platform level. Although there is stairs-only access within the building, the upper level can be reached via the lift or ramp to platform 1.

A subway, near the north end of the station, provides stairs and lift access between the east forecourt and platform 2.

Accessibility

There is lift, ramp and stairs access throughout this station. We therefore believe the station is accessible to Guide Dog and wheelchair users.
