The station lies underneath Main Street (northeast/southwest) between Foundry Loan (northwest) to the west and Muir Hall Road (north) to the east of the tracks. The station building is on the corner of Main Street and Muir Hall Road. South Broomage Avenue leads south from Main Street, almost opposite the station building.
A side street, Lorne Road, from Foundry Loan runs north to a car park on the west side of the station. We believe this car park is for the Network Rail Training Centre between the car park and Foundry Loan and is not for use by people using the station.
The station car park lies to the east of the station, between the tracks and Muir Hall Road.
There are four entrances/exits to this station:
This entrance is via a double pull door on the west side of Muir Hall Road, a few metres north of Main Street. You enter the ticket office facing west. Note that there is stairs-only access to the southbound platform 1 via this entrance.
Just north of the station building, you go through a normally open gate leading west, up a slight slope. Take the turning right (north), go down the ramp then turn left (180 degrees, south) at the bottom of the slope. Continue south, down the slope, there are billboards on the left-hand (east) side. As you reach the bottom, the door to the waiting room is in front of you, turn right onto the platform.
You go down the ramp going south. At the bottom, the waiting room is in front of you. Turn left (east) down a slight slope onto the platform.
You go down four steps, going east. There’s tactile paving at the bottom and a barrier (move left then right) at the top.
We found no pedestrian controlled crossings at the time of our survey.
Tactile paving indicates a pair of traffic islands, a few metres southwest of the junction with Foundry Loan.
There are railings at each corner of the junction with Main Street, but no formal crossing.
