This is a through station on the main line leading north towards Stirling, Dumblane and stations to Inverness. The station is located just north of the junction with the line between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street.
The tracks run approximately north/south serving separate platforms.
Platform 1, along the east side of the station, serves trains towards Edinburgh or Glasgow Queen Street. Platform 2, lying west of platform 1, serves trains to Stirling, Dunblane and the north. For convenience, we'll call platform 1 southbound and platform 2 northbound as these are the approximate directions of travel through the station.
A bridge, which combines the foot bridge of the station and Main Street, crosses the tracks south of the middle of the station. The foot bridge is an enclosed walkway parallel to Main Street.
A ramp leads south from platform 2 to the bridge, which leads east. A passage leads north from the east end past the toilets, to the ticket office.
Steps within the ticket office lead to the waiting room on platform 1, whilst a ramp leads from the pavement, just north of the station building onto this platform.
There is step-free access to each platform plus stairs access between the ticket office and platform 1. There are also RNIB REACT beacons throughout this station, see the Detailed Description section for details.
We therefore believe the station is accessible to Guide Dog and wheelchair users.
