FIND AN EXIT FROM A PLATFORM

DESCRIBE ONLINE

Overview

Note that there are RNIB REACT beacons in this station, intended to help you find the exits. See the detailed descriptions of platform 1 and platform 2 for details.

There is step-free access from each platform on this station. You leave platform 1, eastbound, onto the approach road to the main car park, whilst from platform 2, westbound, you leave via the footpath.

For the purposes of this guide, we'll ignore the step exit to the main car park, as we presume that anyone intending you to use this will show you to the steps. From the platform, you go down six steps into the car park.

See the Environs page for details of the footpath, which joins Auchinloch Road to Alexandra Avenue. We'll describe the route to each end of this footpath.

Although there is step-free access, via Auchinloch road between each side of the station, see the Environs page for details of the roads around this station, we'll also include the routes to the opposite side of the station via the bridge.

The doors will open on your left as you face the front of the train. There is tactile paving along the edge of each platform.

From Which Platform?

  From Platform 1, Eastbound
From Platform 2, Westbound

From Platform 1, Eastbound

You need to find the exit, which is about in the middle of the platform. The waiting room is towards the front of the train, from the exit, whilst the steps of the bridge are towards the rear. Note that you can walk underneath the steps, so be careful if you're approaching from the rear of the train. There's an RNIB REACT beacon between the waiting room and the exit.

Having found the exit, you can continue, down a slight slope onto the pavement of the approach road to the car park, the bus stop is to your right. alternatively, you can take the turning left towards the bridge.

If you turn left, you continue along a short path before going up a flight of steps. Turn left at the top then go up another flight of steps onto the bridge. Continue, down a flight of steps then turn left and go down another flight of steps to platform level. Follow the fence on your right and go through the gap onto the footpath.

GO TO END

From Platform 2, Westbound

You need to find the exit, which is about in the middle of the platform, between the ticket office, towards the rear of the train and the steps to the bridge, which are towards the front, from the entrance.

Note that you can walk underneath the steps to the bridge, so be careful when approaching from the front of the train.

We were surprised not to find an RNIB REACT beacon beside the exit, we shall revisit this shortly.

Having found the exit, continue down a slight slope, onto the path between the ticket office and the bridge. You can turn right here for the bridge, or continue onto the footpath.

Having reached the footpath, you can turn left towards Auchinloch Road, or right towards Alexandra Avenue and the Deafblind Scotland building.

To Auchinloch Road

Turn left and continue down the hill till you reach the pavement. There's a barrier on the kerb side opposite the end of the footpath. turn right for the dropped kerb towards the traffic island and the nearby bus stop, or turn left towards Lenzie High Street.

GO TO END

To Alexandra Avenue

turn right and follow the path, which is level from here, to the turning left.

You're now at the turning circle at the end of Alexandra Avenue, which we understand is the vehicle pick-up/drop-off point for this side of the station.

Follow the pavement left then right, into Alexandra Avenue. If you follow the fence to the end before crossing to your left, you should be outside the west entrance to the Deafblind Scotland building.

GO TO END

Having turned right, continue along a short path then up a flight of steps. Turn right then go up another flight of steps onto the bridge. Continue, down a flight of steps then turn right and go down another flight of steps to platform level. Follow the fence on your left then take the turning left onto the pavement of the approach road to the car park. The bus stop is to your right.
