FIND A PLATFORM FROM AN ENTRANCE

DESCRIBE ONLINE

Overview

There are RNIB REACT beacons in this station which are intended to help you find the entrances. See the detailed descriptions of platform 1 and platform 2 for details.

There is step-free access to each platform on this station. Platform 1, eastbound, is reached from the approach road to the main car park, whilst platform 2, westbound, is reached via either end of the footpath.

For the purposes of this guide, we'll ignore the step entrance from the main car park, as we presume that anyone intending you to use this will show you to the steps. From the car park, you go up six steps onto the platform, near the rear of the train.

See the Environs page for details of the footpath, which joins Auchinloch Road to Alexandra Avenue. We'll describe the route from each end of this footpath.

Although there is step-free access, via Auchinloch road between each side of the station, see the Environs page for details of the roads around this station, we'll include routes to each platform via the bridge as you may wish to visit the ticket office before leaving the station.

To Which Platform?

  To Platform 1, Eastbound
To Platform 2, Westbound

To Platform 1, Eastbound

From the Car Park

As you turn off Auchinloch Road, towards the main car park, the approach road turns left then right. You pass a monument then the bus stop before you reach the entrance leding to your left. Follow this path, up a slight slope, onto the platform, you're about in the middle of the train.

Via the Bridge

From Auchinloch Road

There are railings on the kerb side opposite the start of the path. turn away from the road then continue up the slope. As you reach the top of the slope, you should find the gap in the fence on your right leading into the station.

From here, you can continue forward, up a slight slope onto the platform, take the turning almost immediately right and up the slope to the ticket office or turn left for the bridge.

From Alexandra Avenue

From the Deafblind Scotland building, turn right, continue across Victoria Road then cross Alexandra Avenue. There are no pedestrian controlled crossings, though there are railings around this junction.

Having crossed Alexandra Avenue, turn right, follow the pavement which veers left then right again, into the footpath. You're actually going round one quarter of the turning circle at the end of Alexandra Avenue, which we believe is the vehicle drop-off/pick-up point for this side of the station.

This section of the footpath is level, you're looking for the gap in the fence on your left which leads into the station. If you start going down the hill, you've overshot.

From the gap, you can continue forward, up a slight slope onto the platform, take the turning almost immediately right and up the slope to the ticket office or turn left for the bridge.

Having turned left, continue along a short path, go up a flight of steps then turn right. Continue, up a flight of steps onto the bridge then continue, down a flight of steps and turn right. Go down another flight of steps to platform level then follow the fence on your right and go through the gap onto the platform. You're about in the middle of the train.

GO TO END

To Platform 2, Westbound

From Auchinloch Road

There are railings on the kerb side opposite the start of the path. turn away from the road then continue up the slope. As you reach the top of the slope, you should find the gap in the fence on your right leading into the station.

From here, you can continue forward, up a slight slope onto the platform, or take the turning almost immediately right and up the slope to the ticket office.

From the ticket office, you can either leave via the same door then take the turning right onto the platform, or leave the waiting area. Again, this offers step-free access to the platform. In either case, you're about in the middle of the train.
