From the Main Entrance From the Lifts in the Station Forecourt From the Victoria Square Entrance |
For details of the entrances to the station and how to reach the forecourt from the bus stops, please visit the "Environs" page.
As you enter the station, the ticket sales and assistance facilities are
on the opposite side of the concourse. From left to right, you have:
Advance Bookings, Same Day Bookings, Customer Reception/Assistance, Rail
Connections (travel advice, on your left as you approach the gates).
Having diverted to any of these, make your way (north) to the recess towards
the entrance gates.
Otherwise, the following notes may be useful when seeking the gates directly from the entrances.

From the Left (south) Entrance From the Right (North) Entrance |
The taxis will probably drop you outside the left (south) entrance to the concourse. There are five pairs of doors, of which the middle pair is automatic. We suggest you enter the concourse and turn right, then follow the right hand side till you reach the escalators to the Palisades shopping mall. Turn left here and go straight across the concourse to the entrance gates.
There are five pairs of doors, the middle pair of which is automatic. You enter the concourse to your right of the escalator and stairs to the Palisades shopping mall. We suggest you turn left and follow the left hand side round to your left till you reach the escalators. Turn right here and go straight across the concourse to the entrance gates.
You go through the gates onto the bridge. We understandd that the stairs to the A platforms are normally used as entrances.
As you reach the bridge, platforms 1 - 7 are to your right, 8 - 12 to your left. H4>For Platforms 1 - 7
As you go to your right (north) you pass the entrance to platform 6 - 7, 4 - 5, 2 - 3 and finally 1, at the end. Turn right again and go down two flights of stairs onto the platform, the even numbered platform is to your left. Turn back along the platforms to reach the B section.
Note, however, that platform 5B ends at the west bridge and a new platform, 4C extends to the west. The island platform 4 - 5 is narrower beyond this point and it is possible to overshoot the bridge on platform 5 and go into the vacant track bed, keep right!
As you go to your left, you pass the entrance to platform 8 - 9, 10 - 11 then 12 on your left. Turn left again and go down two flights of stairs onto the platform, the even numbered platform of island platforms is to your left. Turn back along the platform to reach the B section.
The lifts are located between the main entrances to the concourse, with that for platform 6 - 7 being to your left of the right (north) entrance and for platform 8 - 9 to your right of the left ( south) entrance.
The call buttons for both these lifts are to your right of the door, beyond a metal post, whilst the operating buttons are on the right hand side of the lifts, about a metre inside the door.
| To Reach Platforms 1 - 5 or 10 - 12 |
Take the appropriate lift to platform level. As you leave the lift, the even numbered platform is to your left. Turn back along the platform and continue beyond the steps to reach the B section.
Take either lift from the forecourt to subway level. As you leave the lift, the lower numbered platforms are to your left, higher to your right. Go to the appropriate lift, noting:
As you leave the lift onto platforms 2 - 11, the even numbered platform is to your left. Turn back along the platform and continue beyond the steps to reach the B section.
Note, however, that platform 5B ends at the west bridge and a new platform, 4C extends to the west. The island platform 4 - 5 is narrower beyond this point and it is possible to overshoot the bridge on platform 5 and go into the vacant track bed, keep right!
As you enter the station, bear slightly right to be in line with the entrance gate. As you approach the gate, the ticket sales office will be to your left.
Go through the gate and turn right, go down ten steps then turn right again before going down 5 more steps onto the bridge.
As you stand at the bottom of these steps, you're above platform 2 B, with the higher numbered platforms to your left.
| For Platforms 8 - 11 |
Continue to the rail, avoiding a box on the wall in the corner, then turn left. As you go forward from here, you pass entrances to platforms 2 - 3, 4 - 5, then 6 - 7. If you find the rail moves away to the right, you've gone too far!
Turn right, into the required entrance, down six steps, turn right again (180 degrees) then go down 11 then 10 steps onto the platform. The even numbered platform will be to your left, you're about half way along the B section, facing the main bridge. Continue forward (east) beyond the main bridge to reach the A section.
Note, however, that platform 5B ends at this bridge and a new platform, 4C extends to the west. The island platform 4 - 5 is narrower beyond this point and it is possible to overshoot the bridge on platform 5 and go into the vacant track bed. Turn left (180 degrees) from the foot of the steps and continue (west) onto platform 4C.
Turn left at the foot of the stairs from the concourse and follow the left side of the bridge. You'll find the steps down to platform 8 - 9 in front of you. For platform 10 - 11, move right at this point, avoiding the pillar then go forwards again; you'll find the steps down to platform 10 - 11 in front of you.
For either of these platforms, you go down 7 steps (forwards), turn left, down two flights of 10 steps onto the platform. The even numbered platform is to your left, you're about half way along the B section, facing the main bridge. Continue forward (east) beyond the main bridge to reach the A section.
