From the victoria Square Entrance to RNIB Birmingham

Our route takes us along Navigation Street, from which we turn left into Hill street to avoid a busier crossing. Crossing Hill Street at the junction, we follow Lower Severn Street, which joins John Bright Street. We turn left here and locate RNIB Birmingham on our left. Two alternative means of finding this address are given.

From the exit turn left and continue to the first corner, about 80 metres. Note, there's a lamp post about 30 cm away from the wall about 4 metres from the station exit.

As you follow the wall, you'll note a 45 degree left turn before the tactile paving. Continue to the next 45 degree left turn into Hill Street. Continue about 50 metres to locate the tactile paving which indicates a zebra crossing to your right.

Cross Hill Street, turn right and follow the pavement round to your left into Lower Severn Street. Continue, up the slope till you reach the first corner, John Bright Street which runs across you. Follow the buildings round to your left.

Continue, along John Bright Street, cross tactile paving, which indicates a vehicle access way.

Following the left hand side of the pavement, you pass:

  blank door
wall juts out twice
wide entrance divided by 2 pillars
2 recesses each leading to a double door
recess, with two drain pipes
studded door with two signs saying "Emergency Exit Do Not Obstruct"

The next door leads to RNIB Birmingham 58 to 72 John Bright Street. As you enter the building, the door to RNIB is to your right.

Move to the right hand side of the pavement. You pass, a lamp post, a bollard, then a second lamp post. After the second post come back to the wall and turn left the door to RNIB Birmingham is then on your right after a couple of metres. As you enter the building, the door to RNIB is to your right.

From RNIB Birmingham to the Victoria Square Entrance

We turn right into John Bright Street and then right again into Lower Severn Street. Crossing Hill Street, we turn left then right again, into Navigation Street. The station entrance is about 80 metres along, on our right.

Turn right out of the exit and continue, crossing a vehicle access road, marked by tactile paving, to the first corner. Turn right here, into Lower Severn Street and continue to the corner, Hill Street.

Turn right here and locate the crossing of Hill Street, marked by tactile paving; cross Hill Street and turn left.

Continue, to the corner, about 50 metres, and turn right into Navigation Street. Note, the building takes this corner in two stages of 45 degrees. The Victoria Square entrance to New Street station is on your right after about 80 metres. Note the lamp post, about 30 cm from the wall, about 4 metres before the entrance.
