Lines Served

This is a through station on the Inverclyde and Ayrshire lines from Glasgow Central. The Inverclyde line, served by platforms 1 - 2, includes services to Gourock and Wemys Bay, whilst the Ayrshire Line, served by platforms 3 - 4, includes services to Ayr, Kilmarnock and Largs.

Layout

This station, which is built into the viaduct above the town centre, is established on three levels:

• The lower level, this is street level. It includes the ticket office to the south,the Old Sneddon Street entrance in the north and the low level passage which joins these entrances.
• The intermediate level, which is reached via stairs from each entrance. this is a passage running north/south giving stairs access to each platform.
• The platform level, the tracks run approximately east/west through the station, serving four platforms, numbered 1 to 4 from the north. Platforms 1 and 4 are separate platforms along the sides of the station, whilst platforms 2 - 3 are an island platform in the middle. Note that these are long platforms compared to the length of the trains which currently use this station.

Accessibility

There is step-free access through the low level, with stairs and lift access to all platforms. We therefore believe this station is accessible to Guide Dog and wheelchair users.
