Overview

There are two exits from this station. The main exit is via the concourse, which is between platforms 2 - 3, whilst the other is via the north car park which lies between platforms 4 and 7. Note that this station is now gated.

There is stairs or ramp access between all platforms via the main bridge. A new bridge has been installed near the south end of the station, providing lift and stairs access between all platforms.

There is tactile paving along the edge of each platform.

You leave the station via the concourse which is between platforms 2 and 3. There is ramp or stairs access from platforms 1 and 4 - 7 via the main bridge, or lift and stairs access via the new bridge.

You can leave this platform via ramp or stairs using the main bridge, or via lift or stairs via the new bridge.

Via the Ramp

The ramp goes up towards the front of the train. From the rear of the train, continue forward and locate the foot of the ramp in a recess to your left.

From the front of the train, move away from the new bridge, continue, following the right-hand side, past the steps then locate the foot of the ramp in a recess to your right, turn right (180 degrees).

Go up to the bridge, turn right, continue over a slight hump then take the first turning right, down the ramp onto platform 2. Turn right (180 degrees) then take the first turning right into the passage. The passage veers left before you reach the gap into the concourse, on your right. Continue through the concourse.

Via the Stairs of the Main Bridge

From the rear of the train, continue past the ramp, under the main bridge and find the steps on your left, turn left (180 degrees).

From the front of the train, move away from the new bridge and continue to the steps, in a recess to your right.

The steps go up, towards the rear of the train. Go up two flights of steps then turn left and continue over a slight hump. Take the first turning left, go down two flights of steps onto platform 2 then turn left (180 degrees) and take the turning left into the passage. The passage veers left before you reach the gap to the concourse on your right. Continue through the concourse.

Via the Lifts

Go towards the front of the train, under the new bridge then find the lift on your left. The door faces away from the rear of the train, the call button is to your right of the door. Go up to bridge level, leave via the other door, turn left and follow the left-hand side to the lift to platforms 2 - 3, on your left.

The call button is to your right of the door, go down to platform level, leave via the other door then turn left (180 degrees) onto platform 2. Continue, past the foot of the steps from the main bridge and take the turning left into the passage. The passage veers left before you reach the gap to the concourse on your right. Continue through the concourse.

Via the Stairs on the New Bridge

As you go from the rear of the train, you pass the ramp then steps from the mmain bridge before you reach the steps up to the new bridge, in front of you.

From the front of longer trains, you pass the lift, go under the new bridge then turn right (180 degrees) at the foot of the steps.

Go up two flights of steps onto the bridge, turn right then take the first turning right and, keeping right, go down two flights of steps onto platform 2. Continue past the steps from the main bridge and take the turning left into the passage. The passage veers left before you reach the gap to the concourse on your right. Continue through the concourse.

From Platform 2, from Glasgow Queen Street, Towards Dundee and Aberdeen

The passage to the concourse is between the steps and ramp to the main bridge. Go into this passage, which veers left before you reach the gap to the concourse, on your right. Continue through the concourse.

From Platform 3, Seldom Used

The passage to the concourse is between the ramp and stairs to the main bridge. Note that the two sets of stairs to the north bridge are towards the front of the train and that you can walk under these stairs, be careful! Go towards the rear of the train, you'll pass the foot of the ramp to your left, before you reach the passage. If you find steps to the main bridge, going up towards the front of the train, turn back and find the passage on your right.

Go into the passage then take the turning left into the concourse. Continue through the concourse.

From Platforms 4 - 7, Mainline

Although you could get to platform 3 via the north bridge, we recommend you use either the ramp or stairs of the main bridge, which are about in the middle of platform 4, or the stairs and lifts of the new bridge near the south end of the station.

Via the Ramp

The ramp leads up towards the rear of the train on platform 4.

From the rear of the train on platform 4, continue, past the steps up to the north bridge and follow the building, past the steps to the bridge and continue to the foot of the ramp. Turn right (180 degrees).

From the front of the train on platform 4, continue, beyond the start of the building then follow the wall to the foot of the ramp, in front of you.

From platform 5, go towards the front of the train and take the turning right, before the beginning of the platform, towards the steps to the main bridge.

From platform 6, go beyond the front of the train, and turn right, beyond the end of the fence on your left. Continue to the building in front of you, turn right and take the turning left, towards the steps to the main bridge.

From platform 7, move to the middle of the platform and turn towards the building. Turn right and take the turning left towards the steps to the main bridge.

From platforms 5 - 7, continue onto platform 4, turn right and follow the wall to locate the foot of the ramp. Turn right 180 degrees).

Go up to the bridge, turn right then continue, over a slight hump then turn left, down the ramp, onto platform 3. Turn left (180 degrees) and take the turning left into the passage then take the turning left into the concourse. Continue through the concourse.

Via the Stairs, Main Bridge

The steps go up towards the front of the train on platform 4. Note that the steps near the rear of the train are to the north bridge, this is not what you want.

From the rear of the train on platform 4, continue, past the steps up to the north bridge and follow the building, past the turning to platforms 5 - 7 then bear slightly right to the steps to the bridge.

From the front of the train on platform 4, continue, beyond the start of the building then follow the wall to the foot of the ramp, in front of you. Move right and follow the wall to locate the left turn then turn left (180 degrees).

From platform 5, go towards the front of the train and take the turning right, before the beginning of the platform, towards the steps to the main bridge.

From platform 6, go beyond the front of the train, and turn right, beyond the end of the fence on your left. Continue to the building in front of you, turn right and take the turning left, towards the steps to the main bridge.

From platform 7, move to the middle of the platform and turn towards the building. Turn right and take the turning left towards the steps to the main bridge.

From platforms 5 - 7 turn right before you reach platform 4, to the foot of the steps.

Go up two flights of steps, onto the bridge, turn left then continue over a slight hump then take the first turning right and go down two flights of steps onto platform 3. Turn right (180 degrees) and take the turning right into the passage then take the turning left into the concourse.

Via the Lifts, New Bridge

From the rear of the train on platform 4, continue past the building, including the gap to platforms 5 - 7, to the lift in front of you.

From the front of the train on platform 4, continue under the new bridge then turn left (180 degrees), for the lift.

From platform 5, go towards the rear of the train. Continue beyond the station building then move left onto platform 4 and continue to the lift, in front of you.

From platform 6, go beyond the front of the train, and turn right, beyond the end of the fence on your left. Continue to the building in front of you, turn right and take the turning left, continue onto platform 4 then turn right and continue, beyond the station building, to the lift, in front of you.

From platform 7, move to the middle of the platform and turn towards the building. Turn right and take the turning left, continue onto platform 4, turn right and continue, beyond the station building, to the lift, in front of you.

The call button is to your right of the door, go up to bridge level, leav via the other door and turn left.

Follow the right-hand side and find the first lift, which is to platforms 2 - 3, on your right. The call button is to your right of the door, go down to platform level and leave via the other door. Platform 2 is to your left, turn left (180 degrees), then continue under the new bridge, past the steps, the station building begins followed by the steps to the main bridge, pass these and take the turning left into the passage towards the concourse. The passage, which veers left before you reach the gap to the concourse, on your right. Continue through the concourse.

Via the Stairs, New Bridge

From the rear of the train on platform 4, continue past the building, including the gap to platforms 5 - 7, to the lift in front of you then move right to the foot of the steps.

From the front of the train on platform 4, continue under the new bridge then turn left past the lift then left again to the foot of the steps.

From platform 5, go towards the rear of the train. Continue beyond the station building then move left onto platform 4 and continue to the steps, in front of you.

From platform 6, go beyond the front of the train, and turn right, beyond the end of the fence on your left. Continue to the building in front of you, turn right and take the turning left, continue onto platform 4 then turn right and continue, beyond the station building, to the lift, in front of you then move right to the foot of the steps.

From platform 7, move to the middle of the platform and turn towards the building. Turn right and take the turning left, continue onto platform 4, turn right and continue, beyond the station building, to the lift, in front of you then move right to the foot of the steps.

Go up a flight of steps, turn left (180 degrees) then go up another flight of steps onto the bridge and turn right.

Follow the left-hand side and take the turning left. Keeping right, go down two flights of steps onto platform 2. Continue forward, past the start of the building then the steps to the main bridge then take the turning left into the passage to the concourse. The passage, which veers left before you reach the gap to the concourse, on your right.

As you leave the passage between platforms 2 and 3, the gate line is in front of you, with the wide aisle gate at the right-hand end. There are staff at this gate line. Go through the gates.

The middle of the concourse is occupied by seating and other obstacles. We therefore suggest you follow either side of the concourse to the end, before moving to the middle to locate the exit doors. To the North Car Park

We believe the best way to locate this exit is beyond the beginning of platform 5. You go through the gates, continue to the far (north) end of the car park then follow the pavement on the left-hand side of the exit road, onto Glasgow Road.

The car park extends along platform 7, from just beyond (north of) the middle passage from platform 4. This car park is now fenced and two wide aisle gates have been installed across the near (south) end. There's a help point to your left of the gates.

From platform 5, continue beyond the front of the train, beyond the beginning of the platform, the gate line is in front of you.

From platform 6, continue beyond the front of the train, move right inline with platform 5 then continue forwardd to the gates.

The stairs and ramp to the main bridge are about in the middle of the platform, whilst the new bridge is near the front of the train.

Via the Ramp

From the front of the train, move away from the new bridge, follow the wall, past the steps to the main bridge and locate the foot of the ramp in a recess to your right. Turn right (180 degrees).

From the rear of the train, follow the wall and locate the foot of the ramp in a recess to your left, the ramp goes up towards the front of the train.

Go up onto the bridge, turn right then continue, over a slight hump, along a flat section then over the second hump, to the end. Turn left and go down the ramp onto platform 4, turn left (180 degrees) and take the turning on your left through onto platform 5 then turn right.

Via the Stairs, Main Bridge

From the front of the train, move away from the new bridge, follow the wall and locate the steps up to the main bridge, in front of you.

From the rear of the train, follow the wall, past the recess to the ramp then turn left (180 degrees) to the foot of the steps, which go up towards the rear of the train.

Go up two flights of steps onto the bridge, turn left then continue, over a slight hump, along a flat section, then over the second hump, to the end. Turn right, go down two flights of steps onto platform 4 then take the turning left onto platform 5 and turn right.

Via the Lifts, New Bridge

The door to the lift faces away from the rear of the train. We believe the lift is near the front of the train.

From the rear of the train, continue past the ramp and steps to the main bridge then past the steps to the new bridge. Continue under the new bridge then turn left (180 degrees) to the lift door, in front of you. The call button is to your right of the door, go up to bridge level, leave via the other door and turn left.

Follow the right-hand side and find the lift to platforms 4 - 7 on your right. The call button is to your right of the door, go down to platform level and leave via the other door. Turn left, continue onto platform 5 then turn right.

Via the Stairs, New Bridge

The steps go up away from the rear of the train. From the front of the train, go under the new bridge and find the steps on your right, turn right (180 degrees).

From the rear of the train, continue past the ramp and steps of the main bridge then continue to the foot of the new steps, in front of you.

Go up two flights of steps then turn right.

Follow the left-hand side, past the lift to platforms 2 - 3 then turn left and go down a flight of steps. Turn right (180 degrees) and go down another flight of steps onto the platform, turn left, continue onto platform 5 then turn right.

From Platform 2, From Glasgow Queen Street Towards Dundee and Aberdeen

The ramp and stairs to the main bridge are about in the middle of the platform, whilst the new bridge is near the rear of the train.

From the front of the train, continue past the station building. You pass the steps to the new bridge, go under this bridge then turn right (180 degrees) to the lift, in front of you.

From the rear of the train, find the lift door, in front of you. If you pass the foot of the steps, or find the building, you've overshot the lift.

The call button is to your left of the door, go up to bridge level and leave via the other door.

Turn left, follow the right-hand side and find the lift to platforms 4 - 7, on your right. The call button is to your right of the door, go down to platform level and leave via the other door. Turn left, continue onto platform 5 then turn right.

Via the Stairs, New Bridge

From the front of the train, continue past the station building, to the foot of the steps to the new bridge, in front of you.

From the rear of the train, continue under the new bridge then find the foot of the steps on your left and turn left (180 degrees).

Go up two flights of steps onto the bridge.

Turn right, continue to the end of the bridge then turn left and go down a flight of steps. Turn right (180 degrees) and go down another flight of steps onto the platform, turn left, continue onto platform 5 then turn right.

From Platform 3, Seldom Used

Note that the steps to the north bridge are near the front of the train. It may be easier to use this as the stairs route. If you need the ramp, you'll have to go towards the rear of the train for the main bridge. Otherwise, you can use the stairs or lifts of the new bridge which are near the rear of the arriving train.

Via the Ramp

From the front of the train, go past the two sets of steps to the north bridge. Note that you can walk under these stairs, be careful! Follow the wall, to the foot of the ramp to the main bridge.

From the rear of the train, continue past the steps to the main bridge and the passage to the concourse then locate the foot of the ramp. Turn right (180 degrees).

Go up onto the main bridge, turn right and continue, over a slight hump, to the end. Turn left, go down the ramp onto platform 4 then turn left (180 degrees), take the turning left and continue onto platform 5 then turn right.

Via the Stairs, North Bridge

From the front of the train, follow the wall and go up the steps in front of you. You go up a flight of steps, turn right then go up another flight of steps onto the bridge. Continue, down a flight of steps then turn right and go down another flight of steps onto platform 4. Continue forward then take the turning left and continue, across the south end of the car park, onto platform 7.

From the rear of the train, move away from the new bridge, pass the steps and ramp to the main bridge then follow the wall and go up the steps in front of you. You go up a flight of steps, turn left then go up another flight of steps onto the bridge. Continue, down a flight of steps then turn right and go down another flight of steps onto platform 4. Continue forward then take the turning left and continue, across the south end of the car park, onto platform 7.

Via the Stairs, Main Bridge

From the front of the arriving train, go past the two sets of steps to the north bridge, note you can walk under these, be careful! Continue, past the ramp to the main bridge, to the steps to the main bridge then turn left (180 degrees).

From the rear of the train, move away from the new bridge, to the steps to the main bridge, in front of you.

Go up two flights of steps, Turn left then continue, over a slight hump, to the end. Turn right then go down two flights of steps onto platform 4. Turn left, continue onto platform 5 then turn right.

Via the Ramp

From the front of the train, go past the two sets of steps to the north bridge. Note that you can walk under these stairs, be careful! Follow the wall, to the foot of the ramp to the main bridge.

From the rear of the train, continue past the steps to the main bridge and the passage to the concourse then locate the foot of the ramp. Turn right (180 degrees).

Go up onto the main bridge. Turn right, continue over a slight hump to the end then turn left and go down the ramp onto platform 4, it may be easier to continue to the end of the building then turn right, continue onto platform 5 then turn right again.

Via the Lifts, New Bridge

Continue, beyond the station building, to the foot of the steps to the new bridge. Continue, under the new bridge then turn left and left again, after a few metres, to the lift.

From the rear of the train, you may already be beyond the new bridge, if not, move onto platform 2 then turn left and continue to the lift, in front of you.

The call button is to your left of the door, go up to bridge level and leave via the other door.

Turn left, follow the right-hand side and find the lift to platforms 4 - 7, on your right. The call button is to your right of the door, go down to platform level, leave via the other door, turn left, continue onto platform 5 then turn right.

Via the Stairs, New Bridge
