Overview

There are two entrances to this station, the main entrance gives level access to platforms 2 - 3 plus ramp and stairs access to other platforms via the main bridge. A new bridge has been installed near the south end of the station which provides lift and stairs access to all platforms.

The Glasgow Road entrance into the north car park gives level access to platforms 4 - 7 plus ramp and stairs access to other platforms via the main bridge plus lift and stairs access via the new bridge.

There is tactile paving along the edge of each platform.

Note that this station is now gated.

As you come into the concourse, the travel centre is to your right and the passage between platforms 2 and 3 runs across the far end. The gate line, which is staffed, is just before you reach this passage, with the wide aisle gate at the left-hand end.

There are seats and other obstacles along the middle of the concourse, so we suggest you move to the left-hand side to approach the gates. Go through the gates, into the passage then turn left, towards platform 2, or right for platform 3.

For platform 2, for Dundee and Aberdeen, you go up a slope, the passage veers right before you reach the platform. You're about in the middle of the train.

For platform 3, seldom used, you go down the slope onto the platform, you're about in the middle of the platform.

Having arrived on platform 2, you can turn left for the ramp or right for the stairs onto the main bridge. For the new bridge, turn right and continue beyond the station building, the steps to the new bridge are in front of you. Continue, beyond these steps, under the bridge then turn right (180 degrees) for the lift.

Via the Ramp

Turn left from the end of the passage, follow the wall and locate the foot of the ramp. Turn left (180 degrees), go up onto the bridge then turn left. Go over the slight hump, to the end then turn left and go down onto the platform, we believe you're beside the rear half of the train.

Via the Stairs, Main Bridge

Turn right from the end of the passage, follow the wall and locate the foot of the steps. Turn right (180 degrees) then go up two flights of steps onto the bridge. Turn right, continue over the slight hump, to the end then turn right and go down two flights of steps onto the platform. We believe you're beside the front half of the train.

Via the Lifts, New Bridge

The call button is to your left of the door, go up to bridge level, leave via the other door and turn right.

Continue to the end of the bridge then find the lift to platform 1, on your right, the call button is to your right of the door. Go down to platform level, we believe you're near the front of longer trains but may be beyond the front of shorter ones.

Via the Stairs, New Bridge

Go up two flights of steps, turn left, continue to the end of the bridge then turn left and go down two flights of steps onto the platform. We believe you're near the front of the train.

To Platforms 4 - 7, Mainline

Having arrived on platform 3, you can either turn right for the ramp, or left for the stairs onto the main bridge. For the new bridge, turn left and continue beyond the station building, the steps to the new bridge are in front of you. Continue, beyond these steps, under the bridge then turn left (180 degrees) for the lift.

Via the Ramp

Turn right from the end of the passage, follow the wall and locate the foot of the ramp. Turn right (180 degrees), go up onto the bridge then turn right. Go over the slight hump, turn left then go down onto platform 4, for trains to Edinburgh or Glasgow Queen Street, we believe you're beside the front half of the train.

For other platforms, turn left (180 degrees) then take the turning left, through the passage, onto platform 5, for trains to Edinburgh via Fife, you're near the rear of the train.

For platforms 6 - 7, turn right and continue, beyond the beginning of platform 5, then turn left. There's a gap, beyond the railings across the ends of tracks 5 - 6, onto platform 6, which is seldom used. Continue, beyond this gap, onto platform 7, for trains to Inverness, we believe you're about in the middle of the train.

Go up a flight of steps, bear right then go up another flight of steps onto the bridge. Turn right, continue to the end of the bridge then turn left towards the steps.

You go down a flight of steps, turn right (180 degrees) then go down another flight of steps onto the platform. Platform 4, towards Edinburgh or Glasgow Queen Street, is to your right, platform 5, towards Edinburgh via Fife, is to your left. We believe you're near the front of the train.

From the North Car Park

If you're arriving on foot, you go down the ramp from Glasgow Road, there's a pavement on the right-hand side, until you reach the car park. You then have to make your way to the far end of the car park, the gates are in front of you with a help point to your right of the gates.

Continue forward to platform 5, turn right then left for platform 6, or turn right and continue onto platform 7 for trains to Inverness, we believe you're beside the front half of the train.

Continue, following the building on your left then take the turning left towards the stairs to the main bridge. Note the middle passage to platform 4 is almost beside the end of the car park, this is not where you want to be.

You can either go up the stairs, to your right just before you reach platform 4, or turn right along platform 4 for the ramp. If you want to use the lifts or steps via the new bridge, continue beyond the end of the building. The lift is in front of you with the steps to your right of this.

Via the Ramp

Continue onto platform 4, turn right then follow the building and locate the foot of the ramp on your right. Turn right (180 degrees), go up onto the bridge then turn right. Continue, over a slight hump, along a flat section then over the second slight hump, to the end then turn left and go down the ramp onto the platform. We believe you're beside the rear half of the train.

Locate the foot of the steps, to your right before you reach platform 4 and go up two flights of steps onto the bridge. Turn left, continue over a slight hump, then along a flat section then over another slight hump, to the end then turn right and go down two flights of steps onto the platform. We believe you're beside the front half of the train.

Via the Lifts, New Bridge

The call button is to your right of the door, go up to bridge level and leave via the other door. Turn left, follow the right-hand side and find the lift to platforms 2 - 3, on your right. The call button is to your right of the door, go down to platform level and leave via the other door.

Turn left onto platform 2, we believe you're near the rear of the train. Turn right onto platform 3, we believe you're beyond the front of the departing train.

Via the Stairs, New Bridge

Go up a flight of steps, turn left (180 degrees) then go up another flight of steps onto the bridge. Turn right, follow the left-hand side then take the first turning left and go down a flight of steps.

For platform 2, keep right then go down another flight of steps onto the platform, we believe you're near the rear of the train.

For platform 3, bear left and go down a flight of steps onto the platform, we believe you're near the front of the departing train.

To Platdform 3, Seldom Used

Note that the routes via the new bridge are described in the previous section.

Unless you need the ramp, we suggest you turn left immediately beyond the end of the car park then use the north bridge to reach this platform.

Via the Ramp

Continue, following the building on your left then take the turning left towards the stairs to the main bridge. Continue onto platform 4, turn right then follow the building and locate the foot of the ramp on your right. Turn right (180 degrees), go up onto the bridge then turn right. Continue, over a slight hump, then turn left and go down the ramp onto the platform. We believe you're beside the front half of the train.

Via the Stairs, North Bridge

Turn immediately left, into the middle passage, onto platform 4 then turn right and locate the foot of the steps to the north bridge, in front of you. Go up a flight of steps, turn left then go up another flight of steps. Continue over a slight hump, then go down a flight of steps. From here, you can turn either left or right and go down a flight of steps onto the platform. We believe you're beside the rear half of the train.

Note that the top tread of each flight of steps onto platform 3 slopes down.

Turn immediately left and continue through the passage onto platform 4. We believe you're beside the rear half of the train.

To Platform 5, for Edinburgh via Fife

Continue, following the building on your left. Note that the passage towards the steps to the main bridge leaves from platform 5, at this point, you're beside the rear of the train.

To Platform 6, Seldom Used

Turn right from the gates, continue onto platform 7 then turn left. Continue, along platform 7 till you find the fence between this platform and platform 6. It's probably easier to go back from here, round the end of the fence, onto the beginning of the platform.
