This is an island platform with platform 4, trains from Inverness to Edinburgh or Glasgow Queen Street, along the east and platform 7, trains to Inverness, along the west.
Platform 5, trains to Edinburgh via Fife, and platform 6, seldom used are bay platforms in the south section of the island with platform 5 beside platform 4 and platform 6 beside platform 7.
There is tactile paving along the edge of platform 6, but not on the other platforms.
The building, in which the only feature of concern to the public is the Manager's and Lost Property Office, occupies the middle part of the island, whilst the north car park occupies the northern section. There's a siding between the north section of platform 7 and the west side of the car park. Note that the car park extends, including disabled persons parking bays, beside the west side of the building, up to the middle passage.
This island platform is reached via ramp (down south) or steps (down north) from the main bridge, or via steps from the north bridge from platform 3. Note that the ramp and stairs from the main bridge are in the opposite direction to those to the other platforms.

This is a wide walkway which includes the foot of the steps from the main bridge, on platform 4.
