Platforms 4 - 7

Describe Online

Overview

This is an island platform with platform 4, trains from Inverness to Edinburgh or Glasgow Queen Street, along the east and platform 7, trains to Inverness, along the west.

Platform 5, trains to Edinburgh via Fife, and platform 6, seldom used are bay platforms in the south section of the island with platform 5 beside platform 4 and platform 6 beside platform 7.

A new bridge has been installed near the south end of the station, giving stairs and lift access from the island between platform 4 - 5. Note there is level access from here to platforms 6 - 7.

There is tactile paving along the edge of each platform.

The building, in which the only feature of concern to the public is the Manager's and Lost Property Office, occupies the middle part of the island.

The north car park, now surrounded by fencing, occupies the northern section of the island. Two bi-directional wide aisle gates have been installed at the south end of the car park. There's a help point to the west (left hand as you leave the platform).

There's a siding between the north section of platform 7 and the west side of the car park. Note that the car park extends, including disabled persons parking bays, beside the west side of the building, up to the middle passage.

This island platform is reached via ramp (down south) or steps (down north) from the main bridge, lift or steps from the new bridge, or steps from the north bridge from platform 3. Note that the ramp and stairs from the main bridge are in the opposite direction to those to the other platforms.
