FIND AN EXIT FROM A PLATFORM

DESCRIBE ONLINE

Overview

You can leave platform 1, eastbound via steps to Station Road, or via the ramp to the car park off Station Lane. You can leave platform 2, westbound, via the ramp to Station Road.

As these three exits are quite close together, we won't explain every combination of reaching each exit from each platform, including the footbridge.

The doors will open on your left as you face the front of the train. There is tactile paving along the edge of each platform. Note that there's a drainage channel along most of each platform, to which the platform slopes down away from the tactile. This channel is outside most of the obstacles on the platforms.

From Which Platform?

  From Platform 1, Eastbound
From Platform 2, Westbound

From Platform 1, Eastbound

The ramp exit, towards the car park off Station Lane is behind the rear of the train, whilst the stepped exit is between the ticket office and the road bridge.

To Which Exit?

  Via the Stepped Exit
Via the Ramp Exit
Via the Stepped Exit

As you go from the front of the train, you pass the steps to the footbridge, then go under the road bridge before you pass the path to the exit on your right, just before the ticket office building.

Turn right, continue to the wall then turn left and go up a flight of steps to street level. The wall of the building juts out at an angle in front of you, follow this towards Bus Stop A, on your left.

For bus Stop B, we suggest you cross Station Road via the traffic islands before the junction with Station Lane, note this is not a pedestrian controlled crossing. Having crossed the road, turn right and follow the road round to your right, over the tracks then locate the bus stop outside the Bank of Scotland building. See the Environs page for details of bus routes.

We found no specific taxi pick-up or drop-off points outside the station, though we believe they may use the car park. Continue to the corner then take the turning left and follow the pavement towards the car park.

GO TO END

Via the Ramp Exit

Go behind the rear of the train and take the turning right, just before the end of the platform. There's a metal gate and distinct tactile paving at the end, if you overshoot this turning.

Go up the ramp, to the car park. We found no specific taxi pick-up or drop-off point outside the station, but we believe they may use this car park.

Turn right for Station road, the pavement veers right before you reach the main road. turn right then continue forward, a few metres, to find Bus Stop A.

For bus Stop B, we suggest you cross Station Road via the traffic islands before Stop A, note this is not a pedestrian controlled crossing. Having crossed the road, turn right and follow the road round to your right, over the tracks then locate the bus stop outside the Bank of Scotland building. See the Environs page for details of bus routes.

GO TO END

From Platform 2, Westbound

The foot of the ramp is near the front of the train. As you move from the rear of the train, you pass the steps to the foot bridge, then go under the road bridge, before you pass the waiting room on your left. Move left beyond the waiting room and continue forward. You'll have to go lef then right to go round the barriers at the foot of the ramp. Go up the first slope then turn left (180 degrees) and go up the second slope to street level. Again, you'll have to move left then right to go round the barriers at the top of the ramp, before you reach the pavement.

Turn left for the bus stops. Follow the pavement, down the hill and round the corner to your left. You pass the stepped entrance to the station before you reach Bus Stop A.
