This is a through station on the line between Glasgow Central low level and Motherwell.
This is the first station on the branch from the line between Motherwell and Newton, towards Glasgow Central.
Northbound services, via Glasgow Central, continue to Dalmuir, Dumbarton Central and Milngavie; chage at Partick for Helensburgh Central.
The station has a single island platform which curves from about east/west outside the ticket office, towards the north at the far end. For convenience, however, we refer to this platform running east/west with platform 1, northbound towards Glasgow Central, lying south of platform 2, eastbound towards Motherwell.
The ticket office is off the east end of the platform.
A covered walkway leads north from Victoria Street, across the tracks to Newton, then across the tracks through the station, to steps down into an unnamed side street off Farmeloan Road. Turnings to steps to Queen Street, plus steps and lift to the ticket office are on the west side of this walkway.
There is stairs access through this station. There is also step-free access from Victoria Street onto the walkway and lift access between the walkway and ticket office/platform level.
We therefore believe this station is accessible to Guide Dog and wheelchair users.
