THE PALTFORMS

DESCRIBE ONLINE

Overview

This is an island platform with tactile paving along each edge. The platform curves from approximately west from the ticket office to northwest towards the end. For convenience, we’ll consider it as running from east to west. Platform 1, northbound towards Glasgow Central lies south of platform 2, eastbound towards Motherwell.

This is a wide platform with different features along each platform. There’s a reservation between the platforms which is mainly gravelled, though there are occasional paths between platforms. There was some building work in this reservation at the time of our survey.

Note that passengers should not go beyond (east of) the beginning of the station building.

To Reach

There is level access between the ticket office and platforms.

Platform 1, Northbound, from the East

In the middle of platform 1 is a notice saying “Platform 1 for trains to Glasgow Central, Dalmuir, Milngavie, and Dumbarton Central, change at Partick for Helensburgh”. There’s a drainage channel along the platform.
