Find a Platform from the Entrance

Describe Online

Overview

This section will describe routes from the main entrance, which leads onto platform 2, to each platform, via steps and lift. No mention will be made of the temporary entrance beside platform 9, which we understand will be closed shortly.

From the main entrance, you go onto platform2. From here you can reach platforms 3 - 8 via steps or lift, though there is only stairs access to platforms 9 - 10.

To Platform 2

As you enter the station, the travel centre is to your left and the gate line in front of you. There's a bi-directional Wide Aisle Gate at the right-hand end of the gate line, otherwise, the left-hand automatic gates are normally the ones you need. Go through the gates and continue onto platform 2. There's a slight slope down onto the platform. Although you're about in the middle of the platform, we believe you'll be towards the rear of shorter trains.

To Other Platforms

As you move away from the gate line, you pass the steps up to the bridge on your left, before you reach the slight slope down onto the platform. If you need the lift, go onto the platform, turn left and continue, past the closed barrier between the platform and concourse, then go round the lift shaft in front of you to find the door. See the lifts page for details.
