Overview

The platforms in this station are divided into four groups: The Eurostar, First Capital Connect, High Speed 1 and Midland Mainline.

The Eurostar platforms are in a restricted area. To reach this you must check in, go through Security and Passport controls. Although we'll include basic instructions/directions in this guide, all customers with special needs are provided with assistance and there should be no need for you to negotiate this area independently.

The First Capital Connect platforms are at Level -2. To reach these, you must go through the gates in the northwest corner of the Level 0 concourse, then down to the platforms via stairs, escalators or lift.

The High Speed 1 platforms extend north from the northeast corner at Level 1. This is a separate area bounded by the Eurostar section. We believe the left-hand gates are generally the ones you need. You can reach this area via stairs, escalator or lift from the Level 0 Concourse or from the Northern Concourse of the Underground station at Level -1.

The Midland Mainline platforms extend north from the northwest corner of the Level 1 concourse. These platforms are now gated, the gate line is divided into two sections separated by an information desk. we believe the left-hand automatic gates are normally the ones you need, although the Wide Aisle Entrance was to your right of the information desk at the time of our survey. We suggest that the easiest way to reach these from the Level 0 concourse is via the north escalator or north lift.

Unlike most of our guides, where we try to take you to a specific point from which you can move to the platforms, the diverse locations of the four sets of platforms encourages us to take you to each set of platforms from the various entrances. In doing this, we assume that you won't necessarily go via the Level 1 Concourse to access platforms at Level 0 and below, though you may take the stairs entrance from Pancras Road or Level 0 of the Western Concourse of the Underground station to reach the Midland Mainline platforms. We also suggest that you can reach the High Speed 1 platforms via lift, escalator or stairs from Level -1 of the Northern Concourse of the Underground station.

Note that the west central exit on Midland Road is primarily for taxi pick-up and will not be considered in this section. The northwest entrance is just a few metres further north on Midland Road.
