This is a through station on the line between Glasgow Central and Motherwell or Edinburgh via Shotts.

Layout

The tracks run approximately east/west between separate platforms. Platform 1, serving westbound trains towards Glasgow Central lies south of platform 2, serving eastbound trains towards Motherwell or Edinburgh.

The ticket office is about in the middle of platform 1, whilst a bridge, over the west half of the station, provides stairs access between platforms.

Accessibility

There is step-free access between Main Street and each platform, although this is about 200 metres.

There is also step-free access between platform 2 and Old Glasgow Road, again about 200 metres.

There is stairs access between platforms via the bridge.

We therefore believe the station is accessible to Guide Dog and wheelchair users, though note the 400 or so metre route between platforms.
