Platforms are numbered 1 - 19 from left to right as you face the platforms. platforms 1 - 18 share island platforms whilst platform 19 runs along the current right-hand side of the station, beside the former Eurostar section.
Note that:
Between 06:30 - 10:30 and 15:30 - 21:30 Monday to Friday, you can use the subway which runs under all mainline platforms. Note that the number of steps between platform and subway levels varies from platform to platform and we only found two flights of steps from some platforms, whilst there are three between other platforms and the subway. See the Platforms page for details. There are two routes between the subway (upper passage) and the lower passage, one opposite the steps from platforms 7 - 8, the other opposite the steps from platforms 13 - 14. From either set, you go down a flight of steps to the lower passage, continue across the lower passage and take the turning left, down the ramp then turn right onto the departure platform. The steps opposite platforms 7 - 8 bring you near the rear of the train, whilst those opposite platforms 13 - 14 bring you near the front. From platforms 1 - 6, move left, from platforms 15 - 18 move right, from platforms 9 - 12 you can go either way. Note there is no direct access to the subway from platform 19.
Having left the mainline platforms, you can either go down the steps at exit 7 or the escalators to the Underground concourse.
This exit is opposite platforms 7 - 8. You go down two flights of steps, turn left then go down two more flights of steps then follow the passage which turns right. From here you can take either of two ramps down onto the departure platform. The first turning right brings you near the rear of the train, whilst the second brings you near the front. In either case, you move right into a recess then continue forward, down the ramp then turn right onto the platform.
The escalators to the Underground concourse leave opposite platform 18. Go down the escalator and follow the left-hand side of the concourse into the recess leading to the Waterloo & City Line. In doing this, you turn left then left again, go down two flights of steps then turn left onto the platform near the front of the train.
The doors will open on your left as you face the front of the train. There is no tactile paving along the edge of this platform.
Between 06:30 - 10:30 and 15:30 - 21:30, Monday to Friday, you can reach your platform directly via the subway (upper passage).
Leave via the exit nearer the front of the train, go up five steps, turn right then up two flights of steps into the lower passage. Turn right, continue to the wall in front of you then turn right. From here you can take either of two turnings left, up a flight of steps, to the subway, from which there are steps up to each island platform. The first turning left brings you opposite the steps to platforms 7 - 8, whilst the second brings you opposite the steps to platforms 13 - 14. Note that the lower number platforms are to your left, and the higher ones to your right. Note also that there's no direct access onto platform 19.
We found that the number of steps between the upper passage and platforms varies considerably and that there are two flights of steps to some platforms and three to others, see the Platforms page for details.
You can either leave the platform near the front of the train and enter the mainline concourse via exit 7, or leave near the rear and reach the mainline concourse via the Underground concourse.
Leave via the exit nearer the front of the train, go up five steps, turn right then up two flights of steps into the lower passage and turn left. Continue, up two flights of steps then take the turning right, up two more flights of steps into the mainline concourse. Platforms 7 - 8 are to your right. Leave via the exit nearer the rear of the train, go up five steps, turn left and go up two flights of steps into the Underground concourse. Follow the left-hand side and go up the escalator into the mainline concourse, platform 18 is to your right.
