THE PLATFORMS

DESCRIBE ONLINE

Overview

There are four platforms, which run approximately northwest/southeast, designated A to D from northeast/southwest.

Platforms A and D are single platforms along the outer walls of the station, whilst platforms B and C are an island platform.

Platforms A and C serve outbound trains, from Charing Cross, whilst platforms B and D serve inbound trains to Charing Cross only. There are, therefore fewer facilities on platforms B and D as it is assumed that people getting off here will immediately leave the station.

To Reach

Each platform can be reached via a ramp from the concourse, or steps from the subway.

From the Concourse

For Platform A

Having entered the station from the foot bridge, continue to the wall in front of you then turn right, down the ramp onto platform A. Trains serving this platform are outbound from Charing Cross, you're beside the rear of the train.

To Platforms B and C

Having entered the station from the foot bridge, take the first turning right and continue, down the ramp onto the island platform.

Platform B, serving inbound trains to Charing Cross, is to your left, you're near the front of the train. Platform C, serving outbound trains from Charing Cross, is to your right, you're near the rear.

To Platform D

Having entered the station from the foot bridge, take the first turning right. Follow the right-hand side then take the turning right then left and go down the ramp onto the platform. This platform serves inbound trains to Charing Cross, you're near the front of the train.

From the Subway

See the Environs page for details of the subway entrance to this station.

To Leave

The doors will open on your left as you face the front of the train.

You can leave any platform via a ramp to the concourse, or steps into the subway. Outbound trains from Charing Cross will stop at platform A or C, whilst inbound trains will stop at B or D.

To the Concourse

From Outbound Services

Get off the train, turn left and continue, up the ramp into the concourse.

From Inbound Trains

Get off the train, turn right and continue, up the ramp. If you're on platform B, you'll be able to continue forward into the concourse. If you're on platform D, continue to the wall in front of you beyond the top of the ramp, then turn right and left then continue into the concourse.

See the Environs page for details of the subway exit from this station.

Platform D

This is a single platform, serving inbound trains to Charing Cross, running along the southwest side of the station. There is no tactile paving along the edge.

From the Concourse

Turn right (southwest) from the passage towards platforms B and C, turn left and go down the ramp, with rail to each side, onto the platform. This platform continues (northwest) behind the ramp, but this section is very narrow and is probably not normally used.

The southwest section of the platform has a raised area, separated from the remainder of the platform by a rail, we’re not sure what this is for. A low wall runs along the southwest side of the platform, until you reach two steps up at the effective end of the platform. You go up these two steps, turn right and go down the steps into the subway.

There are no other features of interest on this platform.
