This is a through station on the line between Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Central via Shotts.
The tracks run approximately east/west between separate platforms, with platform 1 serving westbound trains towards Glasgow lying south of platform 2, serving eastbound trains towards Edinburgh.
This station is unstaffed. The station building on platform 1 is now used as a Chinese restaurant.
A bridge, towards the east end of the station provides stairs access between platforms.
There's a road bridge at the east end of the station where the main road crosses the tracks. Note that the access from this road bridge onto the east end of each platform is very steep and is not suitable for some users.
There is level access from the car park onto platform 1. There is stairs access to platform 2 via the bridge and very steep ramps/steps give access to each platform from the road bridge. We therefore believe the station is accessible to Guide Dog users, though only platform 1 is accessible to wheelchairs.
