WATERLOO - EXETER St Davids WEYBRIDGE - Hounslow |
We recently received the following information from Southwest Trains on 10 October 2007.
We have recently added lifts and other features at Weybridge station as part of the 'Access for All' scheme. The layout of the station remains broadly unchanged although the following has been added to improve access:
- Drop off point outside the entrance furthest from the road ie: the far side as you approach the station.
- Drop kerb to allow access to the station from the drop off point.
- Automatic doors at the main entrance to the station.
- A variable height ticket counter which can be lowered for people using wheelchairs or of small stature.
- Improved access through the barrier line - a manual gate is still offered for passengers who cannot use the gateline.
- Lift access to both platforms is from the overbridge where the stairs are.
- New handrails and stair nosing for all stairways (these remain in the same location).
- The station will be completely re-signed over the coming months with clearer signage to encourage use.
You may also find it helpful to know that Access to platform three at Kingston station is also cut off for the next ten weeks due to the Access for All works. South West Trains will provide alternative transport for people wishing to travel. Kingston and Haslemere are the next stations which will be made accessible (we are looking at around 8 months to completion).
Our website has recently been updated and improved to include additional information about station access and I am working to ensure that this is kept as up to date as possible. The direct link is: http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/SWTrains/TravelInformation/Stationinformation/
