The REACT way finding system comprises a series of beacons each of which can be triggered by a device carried by the user, to announce a pre-recorded message.

The system deployed in Buchanan Bus Station has nine beacons. At the time of our survey we found the following:

• Outside the main entrance, directing you through the doors;
• Above the entrance to the Travel Centre, left as you enter the concourse via the main entrance;
• At the west and middle entrances to the stance area from Killermont Street;
• Outside the north and south entrances into the concourse from the stance area;
• Near the top of the two sets of steps leading down from Cowcaddens Road to the stance area;
• Outside the passenger lounge, near the entrance from North Hannover Street.

Customers can borrow a REACT fob for a small deposit per day, or can buy one at cost price for £25. Please call the bus station on 0141 333 3762 for details.

The system assumes you've just come in through an entrance, so you need to be facing in the right direction for the information to be useful. During our survey, We found the beacon by the Travel Centre was being triggered by other devices such as short wave radios which means some caution should be exercised.
