There are three lifs available to the public:
In addition, there's a wheelchair lift to the Study Centre
The lift is housed within the building, the door is a few metres west of the steps up to the Rear Entrance to the Museum. You enter facing north, then turn immediately right (east) towards the lift door. The call button is to your left, at wheelchair height, in a metal box.
The door is immediately west of the Rear Entrance. You enter via an automatic door, facing west, the lift door is in front of you. The call button is to your right of the door, at wheelchair height, in a metal box./p>

From the main entrance, continue, past the Shop on your left, then take the turning left. Continue (east) to the wall then move to your right, past the entrance to the Restaurant, before locating the lift on your left. The call button is to your right of the door, at wheelchair height. There's an audible beep when the lift arrives.
The lift is adjacent to the entrance to the East Court, which is the middle of the three passages leaving the Main Hall. As you move along this passage, you pass the top of the Lower East Stairs to your left, cross the passage beside the stairwell, before you find the lift to your left. The call button is to your right (south) of the door, at wheelchair height.
The lift is on the east side of the east walkway, overlooking the East Court. The call button is to your right of the door, at wheelchair height.
There are spoken announcements, but these were not very clear at the time of our survey, seeming to come from an external speaker in the lift shaft.
There's an audible beep when buttons are pressed. The main buttons, located on each side of the lift, are arranged vertically, from the top: 2 (First Floor), 1 (Ground Floor) and 0, (Lower Ground Floor). Below the 0 button is a hole, not of concern, whilst the alarm (marked A) is left of the hole and Door Open is to the right.
From the Main Entrance, go past Reception then take the turning right. Continue to the wall, then move left (south) past the entrance to the Campbell Hunter Education Wing, then locate the lift door to your right. The call button is to your left of the door, at wheelchair height.
The lift is adjacent to the entrance to the West Court, this being the middle passage leaving the Main Hall. As you move west, you pass the top of the Lower West Stairs to your right, before crossing a passage and locating the lift to your right. The call button is to your left (south) of the door, at wheelchair height.

This is located beside the five steps at the east entrance to the Study Centre.
There's a metal gate across the top and bottom of this lift and the button is to your right of this as you travel in either direction.
