This is an island platform with platform 5, serving westbound trains towards Oxford Circus and beyond lying south of platform 6, serving eastbound trains towards Liverpool Street and Stratford. There is tactile paving along either edge of this platform.
These platforms can be reached via escalator from the Central Line Concourse, or via steps from the Intermediate Level
The escalators are in front of you as you come in through the entrance gates. The right-hand escalator is normally the one you need. You go down to platform level going east into an area with:

There are two sets of steps. The first (east) leads north from a point just west of the foot of the escalators from the Northern Line Concourse, whilst the other (west) leads west from the end of that passage. Note that the second turning from this east/west passage is the exit from the Central Line platforms.
You go up 12 steps, going north, cross a long landing then up 12 steps, going north. The passage veers left (northwest), you then go down 10 steps, going northwest. The passage veers left again (west) before you go down 11 then 12 steps, going west to platform level. Platform 5, westbound is to your left, whilst platform 6, eastbound is to your right.
You go up 13 steps, going west, then up seven then 19 steps, curving anti-clockwise, to platform level. You're in the passage between platforms, facing west. turn left (south) for platform 5, westbound, or right (north) for platform 6, eastbound.
You can leave these platforms via escalators to the Central Line Concourse, described above, or via steps to the Intermediate Level.
From Platform 5, westbound, ideally go into the second passage from the front of the train, cross the area at the foot of the escalators then turn left.
From platform 6, eastbound, ideally go into the passage nearest the rear of the train then turn right towards the escalators.
The right-hand escalator is normally the one you need, go up (west) into the Central Line Concourse.
From platform 5, westbound go into the passage then take the turning right.
From platform 6, eastbound, go into the passage then take the turning left.
You go down 16 then eight steps, curving clockwise, then down 13 steps, going west to the Intermediate Level. Turn left (south) and continue into the passage from the escalators to the Northern Line Concourse.
