This is a through station on the Jubilee Line.
Don't be deceived by the apparent simplicity of this station, it is very large, with wide walkways through the Ticket Hall and wide platforms with several large gaps in the central reservation.
The station is an integral part of a large shopping and office complex, details of which lie beyond the scope of this survey. We consider four levels in this guide:
This includes the entrance/exit areas onto Jubilee Plaza at the West Exit plus Montgomery Square, Montgomery Street and Upper Bank Street at the East Exit. See the Environs page for details of these entrances/exits.
There is an extensive shopping area which includes Canada Square, Cabot Place (to the north) and Jubilee Place to the south. Details of these lie beyond the scope of this survey except for the routes from Heron Quays and Canary Wharf DLR Stations. See the Environs page for details of these routes.
There are four pairs of escalators between the Ticket Hall and platforms. For convenience, we number these 1 to 4 from the west.
The Ticket Hall is a large, rectangular space divided into four sections, from the west:
There is escalator and lift access between Jubilee Plaza (Level 0) and this area, note there is no Level -1 at this exit. There is level access to the South and North exits from this space.
This area includes the top of escalators 1 to 3. The lift to the platforms is beside the top of escalators 1. We understand that escalators 1 and 2 become entrance/only during peak evening periods.
We understand the East Exit is closed at weekends. There's a gate line between this area and the west section and another between here and the east.
The escalators and lift to the shopping mall leave from the north side of this space, note that the lift also goes to Level 0, Montgomery Square.
Escalators from the west side lead to Level -1 from where you can reach either Montgomery Street or Upper Bank Street via escalators.
This area includes the top of escalators 4 and another escalator to the east of this which was not in use at the time of our survey.
This is a wide, island platform with platform 1, serving westbound trains towards Stanmore lying south of platform 2, serving eastbound trains towards Stratford. The central reservation includes wide gaps at the foot of each of the four sets of escalators to Ticket Hall Level, mentioned above. The lift to the Ticket Hall is off the west end of platform 2.
There is lift access through this station. There is also lift access between the station, the shopping malls and local street network. We therefore believe the station is accessible to Guide Dog and wheelchair users.
