Location

This station is made up of two former stations, the Strand, serving the Northern Line (Charing Cross Branch) and Trafalgar Square, serving the Bakerloo. In consequence, there are two separate concourses. The Strand concourse lies under the Strand, northwest of Charing Cross Mainline Station, whilst the Trafalgar Square concourse lies southeast of Trafalgar Square, just southeast of the point where the Strand joins the square itself.

Entrances and Exits

The Strand Concourse

There are nine entrances/exits to this section of the station, which are numbered clockwise from that leading to Strand South. These are:

  1. Strand South, northwest of Villiers Street,
  2. Villiers Street, on the northeast side of Villiers Street, near the Strand,
  3. Charing Cross Hotel, on the forecourt outside the mainline station,
  4. Charing Cross Station, in the mainline concourse,
  5. Duncannon Street, north of the Strand,
  6. On the south side of the Strand, outside Next,
  7. on the East side of Adelaide Street,
  8. on the south side of William Fourth Street and
  9. Strand North, opposite the mainline station.

All these exits leave from a subway outside the Underground concourse. This subway is basically rectangular, under the Strand, running northeast/southwest. The Underground concourse takes a rectangle out of the northwest side of this space. A recess in the east corner leads to exits 1, 2 and 3, whilst a passage leads north from the north cornner, to exits 7, 8 and 9. The entrance/exit to the mainline station (exit 4) is near the south corner, whilst passages towards exits 5 and 6 leave northwest near the west corner.
