All change on the East London Line

The East London line is changing and will undergo a major line extension. The line will become known as the East London Railway and will be part of the new London Overground network when it reopens in summer 2010.

The line will be extended to Dalston Junction, Crystal Palace and West Croydon, and will include four new stations at Shoreditch High Street, Hoxton, Haggerston and Dalston Junction. This is due to be open in summer 2010. A further extension to Highbury & Islington is due to open in 2011.

The line, between Whitechapel and New Cross / New Cross Gate, closed on Saturday 22 December 2007.

Passengers have been advised that the quickest way to travel within Zone 2 during the East London line closure will be on special replacement bus services that connect to existing Tube, DLR and National Rail stations.

The following full-time replacement bus services are available:

Passengers are also advised to use bus route 381 between Canada Water - and Rotherhithe, plus the Jubilee line and Docklands Light Railway services for cross-river journeys.

Replacement bus service ELS, between Whitechapel and Shoreditch (Bethnal Green Road), will continue to operate during weekday peak times and on Sundays between 07:00 and 15:00.
