FIND A PLATFORM FROM AN ENTRANCE

Describe Online

Overview

You can enter this station either via the main entrance or, during peak hours, via the Marylebone Road entrance. The Marylebone road entrance is open Monday to Friday, between 07:45 - 09:30 and 16:45 - 19:00. Note that we found no ticket sales facilities, manual or Wide Aisle gates at this entrance.

There are two island platforms, 1 - 2 and 3 - 4, which from 13 December 2009, will normally serve:

  1. Circle and Hammersmith & City lines eastbound
  2. Circle Line terminus, trains return via High Street Kensington
  3. District Line terminus
  4. Circle and Hammersmith & City lines westbound, trains continue to Hammersmith

From Which Entrance?

  From the Main Entrance
From the Marylebone Road Entrance

From the Main Entrance

As you come in via the main entrance, the ticket sales windows are to your left and the gate line is in front of you. The left-hand gates are normally the ones you need. There's a Wide Aisle (entrance) to your left of the automatic gates. Go through the gates.

There are three sets of nine steps going down east onto the west bridge which has several large planters between the steps to the platforms. There's also an assistance box jutting out from the gate line, towards the left-hand (north) set of steps from the concourse. We therefore suggest that, for platforms 1 -2, you go down the middle set of steps then move left before continuing forward towards the steps to platforms 1 - 2.

For platforms 3 - 4, you can move right within the concourse, go down the right-hand set of steps then continue forward, down the steps onto the platforms.

Go down the middle of the three sets of steps in front of you then move left to the wall before continuing forward, down two flights of steps onto the platform. Platform 1, Circle or Hammersmith & City Line eastbound is to your left, you're behind the rear of the train. Platform 2, Circle Line via High Street Kensington, is to your right, you're before the front of the train. There's a barrier from the foot of the steps, along the edge of each platform, to the start of the train. Note there is no tactile paving beyond this.

To Platforms 3 - 4, Westbound

Go down the right-hand set of steps, then continue, down two more flights of steps onto the platform. Platform 3, District Line, is to your left. Platform 4, Circle or Hammersmith & City Line westbound is to your right, you're before the front of the trains. A barrier extends along the edge of each platform to the front of the train, note that the train on platform 4 starts about one carriage beyond that on platform 3. Note also, that there's no tactile paving along the edge of the platforms.
