THE PLATFORMS |
Describe Online |
There are two island platforms, 1 - 2 and 3 - 4 running east/west with platforms 1 - 2 lying north of 3 - 4.
Platforms 1 - 2 serve eastbound, whilst platforms 3 - 4 serve westbound services. We say this as they are all through platforms which are sometimes all used for through services via Baker Street or Paddington. The central platforms, 2 - 3 are, however, normally used as termini for the District Line (Wimbledon Branch) services which are westbound.
The main entrance/exit to each platform is via the west bridge, from the concourse, though you can change platforms via the east bridge. The east bridge can also be reached via the Marylebone Road entrance/exit which can be used during peack hours.
There is no tactile paving along the edge of these platforms nor near any of the steps.
You go down 12 then 13 steps, going east onto the west end of the platform. Platform 1, Circle Line eastbound is to your left, you're behind the rear of the train. Platform 2, normally District Line westbound is to your right, you're before the front of the train. A barrier leads from the foot of the steps to the start of the train on each platform.
You go down 11 then 14 steps, going west onto the platform, about in the middle of the trains. Platform 1, eastbound Circle Line, is to your right, whilst platform 2, normally District Line, is to your left.
